Is there anything special about pumpkin pie or the other 2-ingredient dishes?

Do they make colonists more happy or something like that? Is there a benefit for having to consume 2 ingredients and having the cooking time take longer?

A glimpse at the data files may give you more insight into what they do at this time. I kind of assume that they will provide some benefit at some future point if they do not do so now.

Not yet. Kitchen balance is yet to be done! However, in the future, yes, they will most likely make colonists who eat them happier.

Ah, I see. It didn't seem to be doing anything particularly useful, as it gave the same "cooked food" memory as a loaf of bread or a pumpkin stew did, so I thought it might be all the same. The wiki mentions that the colonists are happier if they have a variety of food, but so far, I can't tell the difference.

    Thanks for the info :)

Don't be fooled by his clever use of capital letters. His name gives us everything we need to know. Haddock is a fish, so the evidence STRONGLY suggests he is a fishperson masquerading as an upstanding Imperial Citizen.

  15. Looks around for someone in authority to ask. ' Private Pike, do we have an official policy on this?'

'I'll ask Captain Cod or colonel Kipper for you as something is definitely fishy around here.'

"Sir! Are you suggesting that our Senior Officers are in fact........no....no this can not be. Captain Cod and Colonel Kipper? And why have I not been informed that these Officers have been involved in this affair?"

I have burrowed into the depths of the... let us call them 'data files'.... and I have discovered that two ingredient foods DO provide a slightly greater degree of satisfaction than single ingredient foods.... in might be reasonable to decide to use these higher recipes in cases where food is abundant. When every morsel counts, the benefit of two meals over one slightly better meal must win.

Interesting, thanks for looking into it. By "satisfaction", do you mean +positive to mood, or time until they have to eat again?

Given the changes to cooking output, I dunno if the expense in manpower is worth it.

I am afraid I do not know how the benefit it expressed, only that in relative terms the two ingredient recipes appear to have a slight advantage.... similarly, the cooked variants seem to hold a four-fold advantage over the raw food. However that is only with respect to one trait... There are many others whose interaction I can only gaze at in awe.
