After dissecting a fish person I have myself a lovely basket of fresh organs. My homegrown naturalist (not brought in by favor) has an office full all corresponding modules, but he refuses to examine/research them. Might this be a bug or has it not been implemented yet?
Do you have both a naturalist's office and a laboratory? I was under the impression that a laboratory was needed to research the organs.
Well that didn't occur to me at all. I assumed that because the naturalist does the dissecting, he'd be the one to examine the organs at his office. I'll try the laboratory.
How is "research" done? I have lab, assigned workcrew, and some of those Animal Crossing gyroids but no one seems to be doing anything. Is there a specific Laboratory module needed, is there an action I am supposed to take with the objects?
I never played Animal Crossing so I'm not sure what the "gyroid" is, but the module you need for the Lab is the macroscope. It can be difficult to build because you need glass, copper tubes, copper plates, and a cog. Once you have your scientist assigned to the workshop and your macroscope built, he/she should automatically start researching any found artifacts. If your naturalist has dissected any fish corpses and produced a basket of organs, they'll research that as well. Also Obeliskian gibs... but I haven't pulled that off yet.
