While I like the idea of dedicated farming crews being a thing, I seem to be having trouble getting crews to actually.. farm. They seem to be more interested in construction, foraging, and everything else instead of getting to work on the farms I assign them. Only after disabling all other jobs do they finally notice the farming plot they were ordered to. Anyone else seeing this? I'm not sure if this was a bug or not, so i'm putting this here instead of the other section.
You're kinda supposed to do that. It's not immediately obvious to most players, though, until after they observe the behavior you did.
Ah cool, thank you. I was sort of assuming that it automatically disabled all the other jobs like it does when you assign workshops.
There is also a small bug in 43C/D where if you have enough idle work cerws, it may stop farmers from picking up the work. This has now been fixed for 43E/44.
It's really only immediately obvious if you played under the previous system and automatically perform that action out of habit. For anyone else, even if they see the behaviour it won't be obvious at all, as farming isn't even acknowledged in the list of job types. Farming is now some magical job that isn't accounted for in the workcrew list, and the means to tell a workcrew to focus on farming is to tell them they aren't allowed to do anything at all. To say it's in anyway clear to anyone would be to give far to much credit to what is really just reacting based on old habits out of instinct without even thinking for a second if it makes any sense now. And then for some reason saying it does make sense if the end result doesn't appear to have changed.
Fixed for 43E; filters now shut themselves on and off for farms when you are assigned to, or removed from, farming duties; same as anything else.
Well, all it really boils down to is the player seeing their workers do stuff they don't want their workers to do, and then disabling it. It's a tad inelegant, but it's still early.
