    ... to a mine?

Yep, I've even done three. It works a well as you'd expect as long as you have the manpower.

Does it cause any strangeness with the mine depth?

Good question, I don't think I've done more than one shaft since the mine update. I'm usually too lazy for it, and one is often enough.

I will have to try it tonight... For mines that cover two or more ores, I can see the benefit of have an overseer with work crew able to service two or more shafts. I currently have a hematite/coal mine that gives a trickle of clay and sand... I also have malachite and sphalerite nearby... and a coal/sulfur spot I probably won't exploit unless I decide to start making land mines for fun and profit... hmmm.... wonder what the trade value is of sulfur goods...

Yeah. As many as 5. Only one person can be in the mineshaft at a time, so having multiple mineshafts is the only way to increase production of a mine as you add workers to a work crew.

Does the output ratio change between mineshafts, or is the product of the mine determined by the location of the mine rather than the modules?

Output is per-module. And it's determined by the module's position on the map and any mineral beacons within 10 tiles IIRC.

That is very good to know. Thank you.

I had to go back and look before I replied. I had not noticed this when I was playing. I have a workcrew of 3 working in 1 mine building/mineshaft and they all are in the mineshaft at the same time. *double checked - they each stayed for 'x' amount of time and returned with goodies* did not see any loss of time from being more then 1 in at a time.

Previously the behaviour I observed was:
    • Overseers never enter mineshaft modules, they only tidy workshop or use standing desk for paperwork
    • Workers cycle through which module they enter, round-robin
Has this changed recently? (I built a mine with four modules to cover a fortuitous clustering of different nodes in 46stable, but the single lower class miner when the crew was first assigned only seemed to enter the first module I placed, with additional workers after that picking shaft modules in-order. At the very least, I never got any hematite despite the fourth shaft being right on top of hematite nodes...)

Well at least one I do know, an overseer only work crew on a mine, they will go into the mineshaft.

Ok, after some checking in version47, people will not (consistently anyway) go into a mineshaft if someone else is there. SO put in like 3 mineshaft modules, you may want to delete your mine if you had one and wish to expand, there are some bugs with the jobs if you add mineshaft modules after assigning someone to the mine.
