    My current build: Astrology/Dodge/Crossbow/Fungal/Tinker/Alchemy/Wands

All of my potions, mushrooms and crafting materials take up my entire inventory I don't have any inventory to spare for carrying things like loot. I can barely afford a slot to carry wands and ammo.

Most of my time is spent dropping items on the ground to switch stuff from the ground to my backpack so I can pick something up and use it to craft something. Thankfully, I've managed to prevail in combat. The hardest part of the game is not the monsters, it's the inventory!

please do something! I simply can't carry all the stuff that I need.

Not to be offensive about this, but given the fact that inventory space is at such a premium, don't you think it was a little overly optimistic to assume you could manage ammo, crafting items, potions, weapons, etc, all in one? Most people do one or two (at the most) crafting skills. You've got three, plus wands. The only way to solve this that I can think of it is start a new build.

What ended up happening was that I created a supply dump on a safe part of the map. When I cleared a floor I would move my supply dump to a different location. Not super prohibitive, but did add an annoying amount of footwork and backtracking that did nothing for my gameplay experience.

Perhaps some reagent-only containers would be nice.

Managing inventory is certainly a creative process. Since I don't play random I don't end up with too many crafting skills, but since the crafting debuffs and because I usually manage my sp and health well for my mage builds, I usually just ignore the vending machines until mid-game and just horde my money, and it gives me plenty of inventory space. That way, I only have to have a stuffed inventory of supplies near the end game.

good thing mobs dont steal your items here like they do in dungeon crawl :p

but i can see how it could be annoying to manually walk back and forth to your stash.

Wait what ? Some monsters are belt fetishists ? Can you develop on that ?

There are some enemies, such as the kleptoblobbies, who will steal an item that is equipped in one of your belt slots. It doesn't steal the actual belt itself. Like if you have some potions or food or bolts or whatever in your belt slots, it will take one of them if its stealing attempt succeeds. If you kill the enemy, it will drop whatever it stole.

Oohhh that, OK. I hope they dont make the items disappear anymore like they used to.

Used to? They don't anymore? I just thought it was intentional. It makes sense to me that if a kleptoblobby takes one of your items, then another, you can only get back the most recent item it stole.

Does the game really make it drop both item stacks now?

I don't know, they've only managed to take one item from me so far before I killed them, so I don't know how it handles multiple stolen things. It may still be like that.

At one point, I had a Kleptoblobby steal 4 things from my belt, one after the other. It dropped everything once it died. Given that the first thing it stole was 75 Cheesy Omlettes, I'm glad it works that way now. :p

I do think inventory management is part of the fun, as others have said, but perhaps in order to make more "randomized" builds viable, make it so that taking Smithing, Tinkering, or Alchemy as a skill gives you + 5 inventory slots each, or something?
Or maybe as you advance in the skill tree, one of the skill levels gives you +5 inventory space?
Or each skill level gives +1 inventory?
Perhaps instead have a craftable item, (satchel for Alchemy, backpack for Smithing, toolbox for Tinkering), that you need [Crafting] level 2 to create, that you can store items in (like the Horadric Lutefisk box, but bigger).

Or more conservatively, maybe only if you take 2 or more "Crafting" skills at the same time, it gives you +5 inventory to compensate?

Craftable extra inventory items could be fun.

Now that I think about it, unless the recipe was extravagantly expensive, that opens up the possibility to craft ~20 backpacks and hold ALL the things....

Maybe not good for balance <_<

Not if they had shared space like the old crafting kits used to (or like the piggybank in Terraria).

Ahh right that makes way more sense!

I'd be all over craftable inventory containers like a fat kid on a Smartie.

I wish they'd officially patch something like that into the game instead of having someone mod it in.

Or have crafting items automatically stored inside the crafting interface. You could even use the icons for the items stored in the crafting interface as filters for recipes.

i would be happy with just 8 more inventory slots, with the amount of items you find on the floot 48 slots doesnt cut it.

the game keeps getting more and more items but the inventory stays the same.

Honestly, If the crafting items didn't take up inventory space (but were highlighted in the crafting screen after being obtained), things would be much better. A second storage place for Arrows and then the inventory would seem huge.
