Hey, I'm working on a mod right now for the skill "Englishian", which is coming along nicely but I can't quite get some things right / balance tweaks / general laziness. For example, I disliked my original idea for Comma Splice and have been screwing around with alternate versions (original was a big spike of existential damage and then a decent regen / manaregen buff, tried some others, currently fiddling with a full heal and a nasty dot). However, I kind of... don't... art. And I'd like to make it feel very "professional", with icons similar to the game's style. So if any one could be interested, I'd love for some iconography from an awesometastic and dapper gentleman/gentlelady. Descriptions of skills and whatnot are as follows, and don't worry, when I make the actual "release thread" I'd make sure to detail exactly what everything does. Perfectly willing to answer any questions. Englishian Armed with the mighty power of language, you shall surely talk down Dredmore's legions. The pen is mightier than the sword! Ok, yeah, you're not using a pen. You're using words. That's ALMOST the same as a sword; there's just the one letter that's been jiggled around, right? Red Plus Blue Prose: Sure it sounds pretty, but you should really think about getting an editor. The description is nice but has nothing to do with what's going on. Predeconstructionifierizingation What are you even saying? Words don't mean anything when you start making them that complicated - seriously, though, stop, you're giving me a headache. Rhyme Scream With rhymes as sick as these / you do whatev you please / haters get on their knees / when they see your English degrees. Comma Splice You should be, ashamed of yourself. Such a fine literary tradition that, you're ruining with these, extra and unnecessary punctuation marks. The heal at the end is nice, though. Add Diction Pabulum vernaculars cloy entities unto paroxysmic plights; this rhetorical harangue educes elucidation of the efficacy of commodious palavar. Word, Dig(gle) Yo dig, I heard you like words an' diggles so I put diggles in yo' words so you can word while you diggle and diggle while you word. Ur-Post-Pre-Post-Modernist You are the very first Postprepostmodernist. What is postprepostmodernism? Well, it's what is born of prepostmodernism. What is prepostmodernism? What came before postmodernism. What is postmodernism? What came out of modernism. What is modernism? Doesn't matter, we have postmodernism now. And prepostmodernism. And postprepostmodernism, thanks to you! EDIT:: and now I have to stare at that missing 'E' for eternal shame. Aww yeah?
What 'e'? Your descriptions make it kind of impossible to get any idea of what to draw, honestly. You might want to say what they do, if only in general.
Awesome, thanks. And yeah, I guess I should. Purple Prose: 10% chances of on cast proc with a small heal, on melee proc with a small mana heal. Not quite sure if I should reduce to 5%. (The heals scale, so hopefully still useful at late levels. Actionless recovery is always awesome.) Predeconstructetc.: a beam affect (a la depressing emo blast) that has a -10 health regen and -10 sagacity for 10 seconds. Should need a tiny debuff icon (but I could do that via resizing in The GIMP). Rhyme Scream: 1-hit brittle buff that unleashes a huge paralyze + fear + knockback PBAoE. Comma Splice: the previously mentioned full heal + (stacking) dot is the current winner. Might scrap it entirely if I can't get it to feel right. Word, Dig(gle): maintained buff which summons diggles a la Big Game Hunter as an on-cast or on-melee proc; currently not quite working yet. Urpostprepostmodernist: similar to the fire rune, but instead of huge fire AoE it'll be a slight existentialist dot with a massive to-crit debuff. Haven't gotten to working on that yet. Should need a tiny debuff icon. Working my way through the xmls is a little tricky; I'm not familiar with how the stuff works yet so I often make rather silly mistakes that I then spend forever working on.
And what about Add Diction? ;] Looks kinda nice but i get the feeling it would become a "one skill wonder" just for the first skill for a character that is a Wage or Morrior (which stands for Warrior Mage ;p ). Thou the third skill seems very nice, almost too nice... ;] Also Full heal as fourth spell? Cheap-not? Or cooldown? But generally i see that it would generally be a mage-ish character. Generally awesome for me but that comes from the guy that download's and plays almost all skills from the modding community cos i CHERISH skill mods. Dakka Dakka Dakka
I was kind of building it to be gish / caster friendly (pure warriors don't really use mana; doubt they'd get a lot out of this). The reason both are 10% and not 5% is that 1-in-20 casts causing a heal seems unlikely to ever be useful, and 1-in-20 melees gaining mana seems unlikely to ever be useful. Unless you use warlockery - that may be pretty awesome. You know what? You're right. Off goes the paralyze. KB + fear should be a life saver. Pretty cheap to use up-front, but the dot stacks (I'm thinking up to 25 times or so) and lasts a long time. It's another "life saver", I suppose. Yep! Or a gish. Also, whoops, forgot to put in Add Diction: maintained buff (1/4) that adds +5 to all primary stats.
Sounds good but the DoT itself sounds kinda brutal, dunno make it and give it for checking ;D I wanna make a sword fighter soon (also a necro, oh so many plans so little time) that will rely on buffing and de-buffing so i am eager to test this ;D Or a Mace fighter! ;D
