    AHHHH i had no idea about this. That makes so much more sense now.

    I am very impressed by the speed of these new release candidates. Kudos to the Gaslamp team. Installing RC5 now to test. :)

    Further testing of the RC on my end has revealed good luck. No, really. Krong loves my Fedora and has blessed it three times so far.
    I found a Vibrating Quadrupal razor sword in Brax's shop. 11,000+ gold was easy to come by because of a lucky bolt of mass destruction. :)
    So, that's a very nice sword to have on the first floor, onwards.
    My fedora has piercing resistance now, and 2 Transmutive. So Djinn are less annoying now.

    Can't wait to see what other things are going to happen. Haven't found any new room types, and I'm on the second floor.
    Okay, game randomly crashed while I looked at my ingot press to make some deep omelets. :( But that's the only crash so far.

    Holy crap. Plunder drops gems now. I'm rich! I'm rich!

    After the Fungal Arts upgrade this might be one of my favorite things ever. Emerald Encrusted Gold Rings, here I come!

    Okay, so the game is working really really fantastically now...but i discovered another disappearing bug.

    When I transmute mushrooms, it works every time except when it rolls Greedy Blungecap. Then they just disappear. The "you put Greedy Blungecap (#) into your bag" thing shows up at the top, but they simply do not show up in my inventory at all.

    Only issue so far!

    Edit: Second bug: Had a teleport square take me to a place on the map which did not have another teleport square.

    Just FYI, the lever crash is back for me with RC5...

    Can you send me that save game? Nobody else has reported it yet, so I am intrigued. (Also, is it a save game created with an earlier version?)

    Thinking...thinking...yeah, that was my save from earlier in the evening on RC4, so that was probably it. My bad.
    I'm afraid I'm not doing this very methodically, so I don't have the save, but it's probably safe to guess that unless someone else can replicate it, that was probably the problem.

    Also, I'd be interested in any commentary on the following:

    - new Dredmor
    - new monsters
    - new skills and skill changes
    - anything else that is gameplay-changing and not bug-related

    I'll keep an eye out for the things you listed, although it will take a long long time before I will take on Dredmor.

    Okay, I know you don't want to hear about bugs. But the Ingot Press crashes if you select the show recipes you have ingredients for in a different crafting menu, and then go try to make something like a Deep omelet.
    Also, selecting the show recipes option shows the highlighted recipe several spots down from the recipe you can make. In the middle of blankness.

    Now don't kill me for mentioning it. I will indeed look around for other things, but I felt it needed mentioning.

    Has the ammo recovery rate increased? Or is the random number goddess just blessing the heck out of me?

    Enjoying getting gems from Plunder...still couldn't get Vegan or Both Teams achievements...and some monsters have insane dodge rates! Got countered to death by a Batty in a run on R2. Still dinking around, so I haven't gotten to see the nefarious traps and insidious Dredmor upgrade...but I'm working towards it!

    Also, mushrooming seems far more balanced than it was...and I love that if you've got a pile o' bodies stacked up, and you get sporification, it sometimes spawns mushrooms for the whole stack of dead diggles.

    Still getting wand bonuses on artifacts, too...but at least they're good for museum exp.

    Now is my time to post some bugs from RC2. Please do not beat me with a stick.
    I havent read those being fixed so:

    [IMG]
    Got a garbled garbling artefact image. When dropped on ground it was a nice black glove, turning back to garbled in my inventory.

    Is that the debuff bug ? Wasnt sure. Happened only once with necronomics. I didnt spam the spells that much but somehow got to -17 regen man and... 20/7 mana. Was temporary, turned back to norm after debuffs died.

    The 'have skill' crafting filter seems to be stuck on.

  13. RC2, not RC5? Typo?

    Between testing each new RC and playing RC2 for real, I'm having a hard time trying to keep up with college.
    *shakes fist* Damn you, Gaslamp Games! Why must you be so productive?

    For the record, there don't appear to be any XML changes between RC3 and RC5.

    Differences between RC3 and RC5:

    Code:
    Mushroom Skill:
        Mushroom Farmer
            Sporification percentage: 25 -> 27

        Slime-herder
            Fungling percentage: 20 -> 23

        Moldsmith
            Sporification percentage: 10 -> 11

        Battle Mycology
            Fungling percentage: 10 -> 13

    Spells:

        Sporification
            Now triggers "Spore Cloud Effect"
            No longer is a mine, nor has animation of its own.

        Fungling
            Now triggers "Spore Cloud Effect"
            No longer is a mine, nor has animation of its own.

        Spore Cloud Effect
            It's new since RC3.
            Does 1 toxic damage.

  17. I don't know which text editor Glazed uses, but he is using it well!

    lol I used Word's change-tracker, I just was looking for new red areas; not looking for further changes inside chunks that had already changed from RC3 -> RC4. :)

    I use Beyond Compare. I own it, but it also has a really friendly trial period. It's free for 30 days, which means 30 days of actual use. If you don't use it for a day, it doesn't take a day off the trial, but if you use it for even one minute during that day it does.

    It's a directory and file comparison tool. You can compare two whole folders and see all the files that changed, then double click one and see the changes in that file. It can even compare zip files directly.

    Directory differences:

    File differences:

    It's even smart enough to know that some differences between XML files are unimportant and don't change the meaning of the file. You can filter those changes out. It can even compare images and highlight pixels that changed. It's an amazing piece of software.

    I noticed that "Spores" is still in the list of items that spawn from Fungal Bloom 1 and Fungal Bloom 2. They still don't work. Are they supposed to? When they get randomly chosen nothing spawns.

    Also, is Nightcap supposed to be in both lists? Is it ideal to have that fungus appear twice as much as any other one fungus?

    Great job on the new spell, by the way. This is a lot more elegant than the original version of the skill and the interim 20 turn cooldown spell.

    <spell name="Fungal Bloom 1" type="targetfloor" wand="0">
    <effect type="spawnitemfromlist">
    <option name="Night Cap"/>
    <option name="Spores" amount="3" />
    <option name="Grunge Ear"/>
    <option name="Fairywodger" />
    <option name="Inky Hoglantern" />
    <option name="Mud Wen" />
    <option name="The Prince" />
    <option name="Lobstermane Fungus" />
    </effect>
    <anim sprite="sprites/sfx/smokepuffbig/smokepuffbig" frames="6" centerEffect="1"/>
    </spell>

    <spell name="Fungal Bloom 2" type="targetfloor" wand="0">
    <effect type="spawnitemfromlist">
    <option name="Night Cap"/>
    <option name="Plumber's Agaric"/>
    <option name="Azure Mob-Bonnet"/>
    <option name="Spores" amount="5" />
    <option name="Fell Truffle"/>
    <option name="Greedy Blungecap" />
    <option name="Odious Puffball" />
    </effect>
    <anim sprite="sprites/sfx/smokepuffbig/smokepuffbig" frames="6" centerEffect="1"/>
    </spell>
