Sorry this took so long. Yeah, the damage works properly(?), but now the animation plays like fifty times in a row for no reason. wth
wut Try...reversing the order of the spells as they appear in the spellDB? Also come on IRC sometime.
Still does it. I think what it's doing is triggering each rank of the spell on every square the previous rank affected. Or something. Which fits the meteor shower thing but is kind of game-breaking in that it takes thirty seconds for your turn to end. Though...I may have found out why the epicenter is so weak in the process: Whilst the random circular animation thing was going on, I noticed there's a hole in the middle of at least the third proc, and possibly the second as well. :V
Oh hey, there is. Let's fix that. If that's really what that's doing for the templates, then I could make one really big strike for the center, a medium hit for the area, and then smaller hits for things that trigger... Updates after I have breakfast.
1.0.10 changed the path on at least one special effect animation. 0.6.RevA uploaded, fixing the lightningarc error.
Thank you again. I actually ran a trial run to see MS and saw a total of 52 separate animations where there should have been a few. If I had a fraps or something I would video that for reference. It was literally just plain nuts. I will try the RevA ASAP and see how it works.
I tried it again and it now plays 37 animations. (No, not frames.) But they seem quicker. It may well be playable now.
Wait, fax rolled that into the main package? Well...hopefully once the hole in the center gets sorted out we can go back to the old same-as-Infernal-Torus formatting for that spell.
Okay, let's try this: Code: <spell name="Meteor Shower 4" type="template" templateID="99" > <anim sprite="sprites/sfx/boulder_drop/boulder_drop" frames="9" firstframe="0" framerate="80" sfx="earth" /> <effect type="damage" burn="1" crushing="2" crushingF="0.2" blasting="1" blastingF="0.1" conflagratory="1" conflagratoryF="0.1" aethereal="1" aetherealF="0.1" affectscaster="0" /> </spell> <spell name="Meteor Shower 3" type="template" templateID="11" > <anim sprite="sprites/sfx/boulder_drop/boulder_drop" frames="9" firstframe="0" framerate="80" sfx="earth" /> <effect type="damage" burn="1" crushing="2" crushingF="0.2" blasting="1" blastingF="0.1" conflagratory="1" conflagratoryF="0.1" aethereal="1" aetherealF="0.1" affectscaster="0" /> </spell> <spell name="Meteor Shower 2" type="template" templateID="10" > <anim sprite="sprites/sfx/boulder_drop/boulder_drop" frames="9" firstframe="0" framerate="80" sfx="earth" /> <effect type="damage" burn="1" crushing="2" crushingF="0.2" blasting="1" blastingF="0.1" conflagratory="1" conflagratoryF="0.1" aethereal="1" aetherealF="0.1" affectscaster="0" /> </spell> <spell name="Meteor Shower 1" type="target" > <anim sprite="sprites/sfx/boulder_drop/boulder_drop" frames="9" firstframe="0" framerate="80" sfx="earth" /> <effect type="damage" burn="1" crushing="2" crushingF="0.2" blasting="1" blastingF="0.1" conflagratory="1" conflagratoryF="0.1" aethereal="1" aetherealF="0.1" affectscaster="0" /> </spell> <spell name="Meteor Shower" icon="sprites/skills/meteor_shower_32.png" type="targetfloor" > <anim sprite="sprites/sfx/boulder_drop/boulder_drop" frames="9" firstframe="0" framerate="80" sfx="earth" /> <requirements mp="50" savvyBonus="0.4" mincost="20" /> <effect type="trigger" spell="Meteor Shower 1" /> <effect type="trigger" spell="Meteor Shower 2" /> <effect type="trigger" spell="Meteor Shower 3" /> <effect type="trigger" spell="Meteor Shower 4" /> <description text="Today's forecast: cloudy with a chance of hailstones." /> </spell>
Success! It plays only the animations now and takes all of a second. That is more like it. Thanks again Fax.
I updated to the newest version now that I'm starting a new game, so it may take a while for me to get back to being able to use Meteor Shower again. Also, I don't really like the new skill, if only because the icons are all the same. It looks like you ported them in from the Grave Digger mod, but that one had an update that gave it different icons for each level. I see, that's the placeholder image. Cool. What's the first level proc supposed to do, exactly? Okay, AoE confuse. Well, that doesn't exactly do much to adjacent targets. Well, the other levels in the skill seem interesting enough, so I guess I'll put more points in it.
I actually love the new skill. I tested it and it makes melee feel heavily OP. Every kill has one or more procs now. (I tested with a debug character and maxed the skill so I could get a feel for how it would be when I earn the skills and attempt to survive via melee.) The healing you get from melee will probably not keep you alive in deep levels, but it will make a dent. I am however concerned that the procs will mean I have to fight Brax every level since they can trigger and hit through a wall. I am seriously considering adding some major resistances to Brax to try to compensate. That may not work. If the skill is OP, but you risk a very very very high chance of hitting Brax every level then it is actually UP. By far at that.
Fax will probably fix this himself when he wakes up, but the current version of FAXPAX is broken due to missing art resources. Given that I have them on hand, I'm posting a fixed version of FAXPAX in the meantime. Here: It's fixed now, go download RevC
Poor Fax. By the way, been playing with your mod, Interior Dredmoring, and Roguish Renovations, and I have to say, all three work very well together, and do not collapse into a big pile of fail mixed with guano, unlike most diggles. Also, the combination also breeds new life to the game. One thing, I found the Eater of Beatings for sale in a shop, did you add your own fedora in here? Or was that one of the other mods, paying homage to your fedora of Godlike power. Because I have to say, seeing that in the shop made me laugh out loud. Sadly, I didn't have the 437,000 Zorkmids for it at the time. Also, I haven't run into the Feathered Cap that often anymore. I think it's from your mod, because I didn't run into it until I installed FaxPax. Speaking of high prices, have you ever seen a Crownstar Amulet thingy, it's from the base game. I forgot it's full name, but wow, it's worth a lot of money. I saw one in a shop for 7.5 million on Elvish Easy.
