    I want to ask this;
In 1.0.10 there were a bunch of new crafting things added. I've come across plans that require 6/7 level smithing, but there's only 5 levels available via talents, and DoD Wiki says +smithing gear doesn't exist.

So how's it possible to make them?

I just discovered the Mirror Darkly shield recipe last night and had the same question. Thank you for reminding me of it. *seconds Althea's question*

There are deep chambers that have crafting boosts for standing in front of a workbench.

That actually sounds like a good balancing factor for some of the better crafting stuff. I haven't seen any of these rooms yet, mayhap because I haven't had the time to delve very deep the last few weeks. How deep are we talking? DL 11+?

Well let's be clear to those folks who haven't played DnD (and note that this item pair and interaction was in DnD long before Wizards Of The Coast was):
A bag of holding is a magical bag that has fixed weight and opens up to a mini pocket plane on the inside, and it can be overstuffed and punctured from the inside and then it explodes and the bag and everything in it are lost.

A Portable Hole is a circular sheet of black cloth that you put over a flat surface and it transforms into a hole Loney Tunes style and then you can put things in it. You can also pick it up Looney Tunes style and fold up the sheet and it fits in your pocket.

Both things have the practical effect of storing your items by placing them in an extra-dimensional space that you access later. They work like any other magical item with respect to breaking, repair, carrying it around, etc. You can safely teleport with such items and nothing bad happens.

BUT (big but) if you a bag into an opened portable hole, or you put a folded up portable hole into a bag of holding, there are special rules within the portable hole's magic item entry that cause these two specific items to interact badly with one another and cause problems.

    :)

The teleport method varies. Some are dimensional portals. Those do not mix well with pocket dimensions.

It all depends on how the DM chooses to see things. The teleport spell on the other hand is not a dimensional thing. So you are very right. But the displacement tiles in DoD are not really explained. In the game it is a teleport. But so are all other methods of teleporting. All of them, including walking just move you from here to there.

Most DMs can be reasoned with on such things. The good ones cannot because they have already accounted for anything you could say or think and adjusted the situation for it. But again we are badly off topic.

I think the topic was Flailing the new guy's sanity. Or something to that effect. :)

*Edit* Zefria beat me to it. I am slow today.

    Oh. I see.

That's probably why I didn't know about them.

I'm not trying to make mountains out of monopoles here, :), but how does a Bag of Holding break besides the explosion with a portable hole.
They're indestructable, and one contains a city even. According to NWN lore.

I would imagine they're like Tesseract Storage Devices, they have nearly unlimited carrying capacity. They might not be able to contain 30,000 solar masses...but still.

The room files aren't in core rooms.xml, so it's probably in expansion rooms.xml, yeah.

Let's not once again derail the feedback thread with tangents about D&D lore.

This explains A LOT. I knew tinkering had a buff from the goggles, but then I found a pattern requiring tinkering 7 and went "Whaaaaa?" Then the Darkly shield and some alchemy level 6 stuff. I do hope the crafting rooms have a very high chance to appear though, otherwise you're dealing with a HUGE amount of RNG to be able to craft something.

And a painfully extended inventory management game with regards to keeping the resources around.

There is a new potion that raises your Alchemy level by 1 for 30 turns. Picked one up last night not knowing what it was so I drank it. Should of saved it :(. Any confirmation what levels those crafting chambers are on? Or is that going to be in a new expansion (oh god yes please).

It was Potion of Alchemical Inspiration. Also found the recipe. Level 5 Alchemy required and some basic potions.

I'm not sure, but I believe that I read somewhere that the wand lore ability was supposed to be fixed in 1.0.10. If so, it's not working for me. I'm on Steam with Windows XP. Here is an image.

I couldn't say what's up with that Wand Lore thing - I remember going over a plan to have it never spawn on items, but um, looks like it got unhooked so items never change your wand lore stat. That loose end needs tidying.

There are no magic craft rooms deep in the dungeon - I removed that part of the crafts mod. Most level 6 crafts are possible with craft-skill enhancing items that I shall say no more about. Level 7s are not possible right now though I intend to do something about this.

Orly. I run mods so often I forget what is and isn't a mod. :\

Basically, they integrated Zara's megacrafts recipes (for the most part) but not his special rooms.

Oh. It might be worth adding this to a Known Issues topic or something similar, because it really, really is confusing.

I have also seen a few items post 1.0.10 with the wand lore, so it's still out there!
Aww, that was actually a cool idea. Oh well, items that boost crafting skills (and the potion mentioned above) are cool too.[/quote]

Not sure if this is new to 1.0.10, but I found the strangest bug: I found a one sparkling glove, and I wanted to see if It Belongs in a Museum worked on it, since it is technically an artifact, and when I tried it, it gained a +2 health regen on it. When I tried IBISM on another one sparkling glove, it gained +2 health regen and the other one lost it. It's persistent through a save and load too. Anyone else experience this?
