Split crafting vending machines?

It seems a bit odd to me that all of the other vending machines are very specific:

    Food: foods
    Throwing: throwing
    Drink: Drinks
    Crafting: Alchemy, Smithing, Tinkering, Wands

The problem is that, depending on the user's build, the crafting vending machine is often 70-95% all trash that you basically ignore. With other vending machines, you can usually make use of at least 80% of what you get with enough zorks. Crafting machines are an exception to this. It's especially hard in the new DLC-- with all of the extra components that have been introduced, it's even more likely that you'll get machines where only 1 or 2 items are of any real use to you.

My idea: split up the Crafting vending machine into several, more specialized vending machines. Some of the components like gems are used across all crafting skilltrees, but maybe you could assign them to specific machines. For example, gems can only show up in the wands machine (or a separate gems machine), ingots only show up in the smithing machine, crafting tools only show up in a ridiculous vending machine of machines, etc. Instead of adding more machines to the game in general, you could make these machines altogether show up equally as much as the crafting machines normally would.

If we split the vending machines, we'd then get one vending machine that was useful and three that were full of uselessness.

That said, I think I have "fungus vending mushroom" on a list somewhere.

I wouldn't mind a "DeBeers Vending Machine", containing only gems.

Also a wand vendor would be pretty boss.

This could just be my luck, but I find that crafting machines have a high chance of holding crafting machines (especially the grinder) - which makes them very useful for all my characters. Also, there are a few components which are hard to find enough of in the dungeon:

Coal, Steel, power cores, Plastic Ore, Elvish Grinders - I'd be pretty happy if I could always get a vending machine with those elements.

i guess it all depends on how much you prefer all machines giving 20% efficacy versus 1/4 machines giving 75% and the other 3/4 around 10-25%. *shrug*

(i am kind of pulling these numbers out of nowhere)

    also, fungus vendor :D

Voting in favor of a machine that dispenses wands, and a machine that dispenses fungus. Both would be awesome.

Ability to mod in your own machine types would be even better, but may be hard to implement.

Not so hot on the 4 different crafting machine idea, though I could live with say, 2 different crafting machines. One that focuses mostly on stuff for smithing and tinkering (ingots, ores, power cores, pressure plates, ingot press, etc), and one that focuses mostly on alchemy and wandcrafting (acids, powders, burnt wands, flasks, gems, grinder, etc)... but that would take some tweaking (mostly to wand recipes) to make the balance come out right. Each crafting skill would have one machine it loved, and one it only cared about if you were hoping to make a specific item that used an unusual component.

Vending wands, mushroom (spores>), and potions seems like a decent enough idea for a "magic" vending machine.

I second this excellent notion! On a similar note, being able to see vending machines on the map (as a less-detailed symbol to reduce clutter) could be a good, if minor, idea.

The problem is, whenever something pops up with a chance to spawn a random potion it can spawn Haematic Phylacteries. Might not be a bug, though.

So, I wouldn't mind it if Haematics got their own item type or something.
