Wow.. I haven't been around for a while.. almost forgot about this game and started playing again a few days ago.. then a new expansion! WITH STEAMPUNK! WHOOOHOOOOO!!!

Loving the concepts of Clockwork Knight and Rogue Scientist... but one of the two big things that really, really bugged me was Inventory (but can live with it, part of the challenge) and those ****ing 'highly magical' mobs cursing armor and weaponry to a point that melee characters where a one way trip down suicide lane... Has this been addressed at all? Are there methods of purifying our gear other then the 99 turn cooldown effected Heckfire?

Corruptions happen a lot less often than they used to.

Successful :magic_resist: blocks corruption. Get that high and you'll be fine.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but having enough :resist_transmutative: res also works. And :dodge:and :block: in general will avoid corruption if it occurs through a melee attack.

Corruption is an effect not bound to damage, so I don't think having high :resist_transmutative: will protect you.

I guess the question is, does an absorbed/0 damage attack count as a successful hit? I figured it doesn't-- havent ever gotten corruption from a monster when I absorbed the attack.

The dodge and block not triggering onHit effects should also make the blobs of corruption better.

Nice to hear.. the other thing I remember was the insane crit rates of mobs down below DL12 or so. Does block/dodge/counter still mean squat once you get down that low?

All three of the defensive stats, dodge/block/counter, now negate critical hits. So they're much more useful, and crits less deadly.

It's best to get into the habit of - at the very least - softening up any Mob with a Corruption attack before engaging in melee. If you can kill them outright with bolts, great. If not, try to get their health low enough that you can one-shot. Doing this will ensure you're "exposed" to as few potentially-corruption-izing attacks as possible.

Rule #1 of Dredmor: There are some things you simply cannot walk into Morder melee, even if you have nothing but Warrior levels.
