So I have been playing DoD since release and love the game...played many, many, times...died many, many times...not the best, but I have downed Dred on DMPD. Anyway, started up a new character after installing TMNtM (yes, I also have RotDG installed and have used it before) and started noticing strange things. I was wondering if these are just random events I have never had before, or if maybe this is something new introduced by the mod. Basically, I am missing rooms/features that I usually find at least 1 of (and usually more than 1 of) on every floor. Floor 1 had only 1 shop, and it was behind a breakable wall. Floor 2 had no shops or lutefisk shrines at all. Floor 3 had no Inconsequentia shrines all. I have just started level 4, so no idea what lies below... But yeah, every single other game I have ever played (and like I said, it's been a lot 100+) I have seen at least 1 shop, lutefisk shrine, and Inconsequentia shrine on every single level.. So is this just the random dungeon generator giving me a crazy dungeon finally, or is this something new? Anyone else have dungeons like this?
I have had lutfisk statues not appear until dungeon level 3 or 4. I have had levels with no shops on them. No Inconsequentia Shrines hasn't happened to me yet . I would say that it's just a bad run with the random number generator.
Inconsequentia shrines pop up in several smaller rooms, so they have more chance to spawn than Shops or LFG rooms. Larger rooms = less chance to spawn. Number of doors is involved in this calculation, too.
KK, so it just seems like up until this point I haven't been experiencing ALL Dredmore has to offer me...guess that just means I'll HAVE to go play a few hundred more games...sigh...
I have played with mods before (lots of mods...oooooooh the mods) but I wanted to play a character or two "pure" after the newest xpac for a death or two. Then, once Steam Workshop has had a chance to populate a bit more...MODS ONCE AGAIN!!! Muhuhuhahaha
According to Nicholas, the RNG is now set so that floors average 3 shops each. Although in practice for my own games, I've never seen floors with just 1 or 2 shops. Always 0 or 3. Which is a bit odd if you are calling it an average.
I don't know about the latest DLC, but in the xml files the MAX shops that can appear were 3. You could change this to a higher number and possibly get more shops. The main problems is that with interior dredmorating there is a higher ratio of rooms to shops (even though he has added in quite a few shops to alleviate the problems some) as well as some truly huge rooms that can spawn making it difficult for the game to fit in shops sometimes. I haven't really had this problem often though, and I never play on NTTG so I can't really comment on that. But, I have had the occasional floor which spawns zero shops.
It's no time to grind actually (at least I assume it is...) And yeah, lately with Interior Dreadmorating I've experienced quite a lot of no shop there. Which bothers me a lot, since I hate leaving stuff around and end up Lutefisking level 4 armor or so
