    Permadeath by default?

Go to test a new screen resolution, load my game. Make 2 moves, and decide I want another resolution. Ignore the nag screens because most professional games LEAVE YOUR SAVE FILES ALONE. You only loose your progress since the last load.

Come back and my game had been deleted.

That was the one and only time I actually started enjoying this game. Got to level 3 and had some great equipment.

You guys just suck. This is the absolute most stupid idea I have ever heard of.

Here is a new idea. When you quit the game without saving it will randomly choose a file from the C:\windows folder and delete it.
That way you can permadeath in all of your games if you quit without saving.

That is 8 hours of my life I will never get back.

You ignored the nag screens that said your character would be deleted irrevocably? You also missed the Permadeath tickmark on the character selection screen? Do you lack basic reading comprehension?

The same would be true if you still had the save file.

The permadeath option is right there on the difficulty screen, not even in small font.

It's on by default because every roguelike ever (almost) has permadeath.

Then we added those "nag screens" that clearly say your save will be deleted. And it was possible to save before quitting.

I don't know what we can do more than that.

Just so you know, it's your fault for choosing the option to quit without saving.

It's standard for rogue-likes to delete your save upon loading the game (to make save-scumming more difficult), and normally that is not an issue because there are auto-saves. Had you actually cared, you would have known that it is not "permadeath".

And had you actually bothered to pay attention, you would've also read the message that pops up when you choose to quit without saving, the one that warns you that proceeding will delete your character.

Learn not to push the responsibility for your failures onto others.

I'm going to close this because I don't expect anything good coming from this thread. Either from a comeback or from reactions of people jumping on you.
Your rant is out there, we can read it.
