Does anybody know what the drop rate of this ring is? My brother claims to have found it in a fountain on DL1, and I believe him and everything, but I didn't even know it was possible to get an item from a fountain because I never have. I envy him though because this ring is ridiculously good for a counter-chance build.
You can even get a crowstar annendum from a fountain on DL1 if you are lucky enough, so it just depends on how lucky you are.
As for the drop rate of the ring, I have probably at 750 to 1000 hours of DoD. Not sure because when I was beta testing it wasn't going through steam. Anyway, I have seen the ring maybe 3 times. Two of those times were in the same game. So I would say it's rare at least for me. So is the Crownstar addendum as I have only seen it once.
It's relatively common on the deepest floors, as in my first run that reached dredmor probably saw at least 7 of them, and the subsequent run that reached dredmor saw at least 5. Note that the point where it becomes relatively common is around dungeon level 11-13.
My last run to get to floor 15 found about 6-7 shrike's rings. Sometimes RNG gods like to mess with people.
I got it on one character on the very first fountain of floor one, of course that seemingly blessed character died just two rooms later to a flame trap...
I'm in a similar boat as Shwqa. I feel like I'm tripping over the things DL10+. Crownstar Addendums now.... those the RNG has not yet shown me in 3 DL15 runs. Ce la vie.
Hmm, I just found one in one of those bonus levels that branched off of DL4. I feel pretty lucky! As long as I'm here... I can't enchant it on an anvil, correct?
I found one a few days on DL1 as well, but only 2-3 when venturing through 11-14. Have yet to see any Crownstar Addendum though :/
Well, good to know! From what I've seen, it's probably not worth the risk of getting a curse... but hmm...
Have you not seen the FaxHat? (http://community.gaslampgames.com/threads/the-best-and-worst-krong-enchants.1882/page-2) That is why it is worth the risk of getting a curse. The FaxHat.
From my testing with a 25 quality artifact, curses are static while buffs are scaled to artifact quality, thus stacking krongs seems to always end well.
Have you met the Dredmorpedia? (http://j-factor.com/dredmorpedia) It contains the answers to many of your DoD questions. The Addendum is an amulet that has the highest number of base enchants in the game, I believe. Even if not the highest, it is still extremely high. Excellent for Museuming if the stats aren't good for your character, as well.
Correct. The chance of finding a ring in a fountain is very small (it's something like 1 in 250, which should probably be revised lower), and then it's just a random jewelry pick. I need to add an endless stream of snakes flowing endlessly forth or something.
