Download save files?

I just totally screwed myself over losing all of the progress I got. I didn't like that one of my best items had gotten murdered by Krong, so I opted to just quit, thinking that it was a quit without saving thing where I can come back and play from my last save. Lo and behold I wasn't paying attention to the various prompts, which apparently said exactly what I should have known. Now all that progress is gone without dying, and I'm pissed off. Now I want revenge, and I'm willing to cheat if it's possible. Is it possible to download people's save games and kill the end boss right at the end so I can finish this bullshit? Once Dredmor's out of the way I won't have to feel like a piece of shit any more.

We all the mourn the loss of another good adventurer. You aren't the first to lose a good character to human error and certainly not the last. I'm sure there's probably some way to cheat your way to the end, but I don't see how killing old Dred in such a cheap manner will give you any sense of accomplishment. After all, killing Dredmor is tough, but getting to him is the hardest part.

I've had many characters die in stupid ways, mostly traps, but several good ones went down with the entire dungeon when it crashed or the save files simply broke after patching. It happens. If you're really ticked off, it's probably best to just step away from the game for a bit to catch your breath. Remember, this is a Rogue-like. Dying is expected/fun and it's really easy to start up another character with a new and interesting build.

So, don't beat yourself up. Just keep throwing the bodies at Dredmor until you can climb the corpse pile to victory. We're all rooting for you.

I cheat regularly to test various things. I use the debug options rarely since they are not as useful until late in the game. (Although I admit that if you find a Mysterious Portal on Level One you can go there, Drop all in your inventory and use the "I" (as in Italian or Iguana) cheat to fill your backpack with loot appropriate for that level and have awesome stuff from early on. Move to a garbage spot and drop everything you do not want and repeat as desired or until the game crashes. Save frequently when using this, as it does cause crashes often. Once you get good equipment and feel about right for where you are, drop the garbage again and pick up whatever you wanted from your original stuff. *ESPECIALLY* quest items. They are usually not worth the trouble, but the quest will remain in your quest log forever if you lose the item.

For normal day to day cheating I use Artmoney. It is a simple memory editor. You select the process and then search for a value like the number of Zorkmids you have and then pick some up and search again until you find the location that is kept in. To save you some time, DoD uses 4 byte Integers for everything. And there are always two locations that hold the current experience you have. You want the earliest of them. You can set it to 999999 and lock the value and it will give you a level up every time you pass a turn by moving or doing anything.

Experience is reset to zero each time you level up, unless you do my little cheat method. (In reality, even with it locked at 999999 it still changes to zero, but Artmoney changes it back quicker than you can notice.)

You can safely set Zorkmids to 69999999 and never worry about money again even if you buy every last item in the game and somehow manage to find ways to buy more. (Besides you can always edit it again.) I use 69999999 because it is a 6 followed by seven 9s. It makes it easier to remember what to set it to and not worry about it.

You can also edit your current health and mana just like these, but there is little point changing them about 1001 since anything that hits you for enough to normally kill you then immediately does 1000 damage to you to actually kill you. (It is complicated, but not worthy of discussion.)

Any time you have 2 or more of any item, search for the number of that item. Then switch back to the game, hold ALT and pick up one of the item and search for the new number in the stack, even if it was 2 and is now 1. Then drop the item back into the stack and search more. You can repeat this forever and almost always find the quantity of the item. Infinite items requires only two. :D

Artmoney is free to use. But it is trial-ware. You have zero need of the full version, and if they have changed it to require Internet access to use, then let me know and I will post the version I use. (The license I agreed to does not forbid this, even if they have changed their terms since.)

I have thought of buying it, and in truth I probably should. It is a great tool and I have already cheated thousands of times with it. If my finances improve, I will buy it. But for now, I continue using the eternal trial mode that works just fine for me. :)

I know some reading this are getting pissed at me for this post. But why? This is not a multiplayer game. Cheat all you want. But do note that it really does diminish the enjoyment of the game to cheat too much.

I don't really want to cheat that much I just want a save file where I can beat Dredmor and get that achievement out of the way so I can feel like "Now that that's done I don't have to stress as much". I don't care about sense of accomplishment.

Then why beat him in the first place, if you don't care about "sense of accomplishment"?

The point is, if you want to cheat to kill Dredmor, it's easy. Really easy. But what you are asking for now is for someone else to work so that you'll be able to cheat.

It's because I've had good save files screwed over by errors, such as file corruption, though that was one time, and a thunder storm game crash X_x I'm tired of the effort I've put in being taken away from me and just want the damn thing I've been working for for 60 hours to be given to me so I can get the damn pain out of the way.

    And?

Just make a cheat skill tree (or even ask a modder for that, it's much easier to make one than it is to give you a save, really) and play with permadeath turned off. It's possible to kill Dredmor in under an hour that way.

I need the permadeath kill achievement.

Then just earn it. What you desire right now is an achievement, and that is something you should earn on your own; using cheat skill trees is acceptable if that is what you desire, but asking others to practically play the game for you is kind of wrong.

Here use this mod. The first skill it gives you adds 10000 health to you and summons Dredmor to you. Use it and kill him for the lamest cheat win ever. Do not feel proud.

You can do this with a brand new character and still win. I did not make this.

That probably sounds more disrespectful than I intended to be. I am not sure what exactly the OP wants, but this is as close as I can come to what I think is being requested.
