Don't worry; by the end of the skill tree you'll be able to shoot people with just your fingers AND magically come back to life! (side effects may vary)

Okay. I'm totally not getting the jokes related to the Paranormal Investigator skill.
I know somehow it has something to do with Cthulu mythos, perhaps the Call of Cthulu game?

I'm afraid you couldn't be more wrong.

I thought Paranormal Investigator was a Ghostbusters reference.

    I was thinking X-Files, myself.

So. Which of these myriad options is it? Maybe it's a combination.

Knowing Gaslamp, it'll probably be Psychonauts.

Well, "Exit Through the Gift Shop" is the title of an excellent documentary. Paranormal investigator itself comes from those pseudoscience shows that have kept popping up every year or so practically forever. Essentially, just about anyone can label themselves a paranormal investigator and get a television show. All you need to do is to claim to be a skeptic, while professing that a needle moving on a just about any device that looks good on a camera is proof of paranomral activity. Judging from what I've seen, anything from a cool breeze to a magnetic field 'mysteriously' emanating from electrical wiring can convince even the hardest 'skeptic' that a house is haunted. (that is, a television skeptic, not a real one, obviously).

Oh, thanks, Banjo. Now I'll be stuck reading TV Tropes again for days. :)
    I kid, I kid.

Thanks though for explaining it, I had no clue.

Now I'm hoping that the artwork for Paranormal Investigator will include something like this.
That was related to Bankster, not Paranormal Investigator.

I would like something ofg the covers of the Dresden Files books ;)
Like, the cover of the first book, Dredmor style.

Catbread, I think we need that Aliens guy to play Dredmor. :)
"I think this game is awesome, but I think it needs more aliens."

He would believe the game was programmed by aliens to mind-control people

Sorry for the late double posting, but I want to ask some questions about the update.
Will Thor's Voltic Fist get a nerf in Dredmor's hands?

Because to counter it, you'd need like 50 Voltic Resistance. Which makes it the single-handed most dangerous spell in the game, bar none.
It also can stun you, which quadruples the overpowered factor.

Most Roguelikes have a way to counter being paralyzed. It's called Paralysation resistance funnily enough.
So, either remove the stunning the player ability from Thor's bolt, and reduce the damage, or add an item that makes you not have to worry about being stunned and reduce the damage.
Being stun-locked is a bad game design mechanic, and really, this is something almost every game on the planet agrees on. And almost every game designer by extension.

Remember, deaths in roguelikes should be your fault, not the game's fault. :)

And if you get stun-locked, I can't imagine it ever being your fault.
I really don't think this is the type of game for having A. Overpowered attacks, Because Dredmor is totally Super Saiyan Level 4. :)
    Dredmor: KAMMMAAKAMMAKEMEHA!
    Player: Hey, you're not Goku!
    B. Final boss having certain dickish moves. This isn't Street Fighter: The movie, right? :) And every other fighting game ever.
"And I beheld Satan, falling from heaven, like lightning!"

I know some people here want the game to be more challenging than every bullet-hell shooter ever. Omninegro maybe? :p
Now, please do not chainsaw me if I'm missing something important and major here.
These are my thoughts, also don't chainsaw me period. It's rude, and chainsaws vs. people tend to break the chain.
My computer is also a big pile of crap, so I don't think I'll be getting down to Dredmor until after my new computer I get for my birthday in September. Now watch me beat him tomorrow. :p
Unless Gaslamp Games wants to buy me one. :) *Hint: I would never complain about anything again ever if you did that except for maybe that never changing smithing so you can adjust the odds yourself thing.

I know you're probably going to be like. "Oh, God, David is whining about something again! OH MY GOD! They're eating her, and then they're going to eat me! OH MY GOD!" Wait, this isn't Troll 2.

I think more games use the term "Free-Action" instead of paralyzation resistance.

And I *HATE* those ridiculous bullet hell games. They are fucking impossible. :D

No chainsaw. No complaints. We have had this song and dance before. You are still entitled to your incorrect opinions. (Incorrect because mine are not?)

Ahh, bullet hell. They can actually be fun if you're willing to invest the time in practicing the patterns, etc.

I'm not, however, which is why I enjoy Beat Hazard and its fifteen guaranteed invincibility bombs per game.
