Probably a dumb question but something I've always wondered about. Dradmorpedia confirms it's not actually used to craft anything else and while you can drink it for a few zorkmids, even on Going Rogue selling them to Brax gets you more. Plus that doesn't involve damaging yourself a bit. So what are Solutions of Gold for?
I think they'd be a better recipe item . . . like if you have to electroplate something. My favorite spell is Curse of the Golden Ratio, but, yeah, my squishy mage bruises easily, no melee, thanks.
I think it's just a reagent waiting for a recipe. There isn't much use for Electrum either, which is strange since most of the ingots see heavy use. I invariably sell mine. Some room for development there.
I always assumed solution of gold was mostly there because that's a thing aqua regia can do? Though it does seem like it ought to be used for SOMETHING.
It was funny, mainly. Must we have a reason for everything? (Also, I think David had been reading about medieval alchemy that week. More of this in Odin, maybe.)
It's used for drinking until you figure out you were silly for drinking it. It's about the learning process involved with figuring out what you should do and what you shouldn't. "What happens if I put this... in this!" =P
Very correct, oh yes. No, no, no reason for every single thing - and the fun is in discovering what does have other uses. I admit I was surprised at transmuting gem stones - I figured I'd be transmuting elements at some stage, the Alchemist's dream, the Philosopher's Stone, etc. . . . .
Its a good way to damage yourself so you can eat food to clear up inventory space without feeling like you're wasting your food by eating it at full health!
A question: if I have negative transmutative resistance, will the extra damage increase the amount of gold dropped?
It should be changed so that drinking it takes a turn before you poop the gold. That way, you can drink another, in which case it will take yet another turn, but the "buff" stacks. And it stacks until some arbitrary number. So you drink so much of it that you get midas-diarrhea and you shit tons and tons of gold! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!
