Yeah.. More Oddities. I've even deleted the save and game directories and then redownloaded them. Is this some sort of registry magic?
And the game seems to be unplayable on win7 x64 now without crashing within 30 seconds or so of loading into the actual gameplay.
On very limited bandwidth limits, and yet again I've completely removed all files for dredmor via steam and then physically checking through explorer to confirm. Redownload #10. This title still shows up. Crashes are still constant. Sorry Gaslamp. I love DOD but I am disgusted with you right now, 3 expansions in and this is just unseemly. I feel like I've been robbed, because steam doesn't allow refunds. I dont think I can continue recommending your software. I've just spent hours trying to fix something that shouldn't be an issue in the first place. EDIT: I know about the little square button, and it does change the splash screen, but after leaving the game it goes right back to this. I also disabled steam cloud about halfway too in case it was causing this.. no change.
I've experienced overlay of titles too. Strangely enough, the bug disappeared after I had downloaded YHTNTEP, so it may show up if only the first and the third expansions are installed.
Just tested this. Crap, you are completely right and I don't know how we missed it. Thanks for the report. Install YHTNTEP (it's free after all) and everything should work correctly. We will fix this issue though.
Well thats an even bigger issue than some layered graphics especially if its whats causing a majority of my crashes. In my other thread I had a problem which after no resolution I figured I would try the general cure-all.. fully uninstall and reinstall. Apparently it DIDNT reinstall YHTNTEP when I downloaded the game again, but it still created the file directory for 'expansion2'.. so when I looked at the game directory it seemed to be in place. Though the YHTNTEP screen didn't show up when toggling them I figured it was simply more graphic error nonsense. Made sense at the time. More troubling is why YHTNTEP did not download. I think my old YHTNTEP may have been a forum release, not sure. But either way I had to register it through the steam store again. Easy enough fix for that is just have steam make COTW require installation of YHTNTEP to download/install, especially if it is dependant on parts of YHTNTEP.
I think the reason it doesn't install automatically is due to how Steam treats free games (or dlc). When you uninstall a free game in Steam it disappears from your library and you have to install it back through the store. We don't want to make any expansion dependant on any other but evidently we missed some things. They'll be cleaned up.
