There's a short list of effects(6-7), I think the weapon gains one of them for every degree of severity of instability. Btw there's an encrust for rings/necklaces that gives negative instability, so you could potentially have uber-encrusted rings/necklaces without instability. (The negative stability encrust is Blister Pack).
I know about the negative stability, but the cost is a bit harsh for me to want to use. Also, I don't have anything besides Smithing, and I don't think I can make anything for amulets or rings.
Anyone else have a character that won't move down a floor. I can move between the first and second floor, but it won't let me move to the third floor. I have on open quest, but I doubt that is the cause.
Yeah, I know it's been reported. I was one of the early beta testers, and I reported it on Release Candidate 6... they did another half-dozen RCs after that, so I had assumed it got fixed (I couldn't check because I'm on a Mac and there were significantly fewer Mac builds of RCs than PC builds). I didn't see it in the first post of this thread, so I figured it was worth a reminder that it still needs to be fixed. There's a spot in the xml files that includes a list of possible instability effects. Every single time I've had a weapon go unstable, it's always randomly selected the instability effect that teleports you when you hit. But that's just luck. I'm sure eventually I'll get some other result.
It was a little unclear whether you mean that the game crashes upon going down the stairs, or if the stairs just won't work at all. If you're experiencing a crash upon going down stairs to the next floor, that's usually a problem with a mod. It'll be the result of a broken room, item, or monster introduced by that mod. What mods are you running? If you're really patient you may be able to get around it by just trying again and again - whatever is broken probably has a random chance of spawning, so with enough tries you'll probably get a randomly generated floor that doesn't feature the broken thing. If it's that the stairs just aren't doing anything at all, that would indeed be something new and most-likely not mod-related. If so, please provide us with confirmation/details.
It is the second. I have no mods installed, and the stairs just don't work. There is a few seconds of the game freezing, and then nothing. I am standing at the staircase still. I can go to the first floor, and back to the second floor. I can use the wizardlands. I just can't go to the third floor.
I had a similar error where I couldn't go up floors. Basically the same thing would happen for me but in reverse. I think that the hotfix patches fixed the issue, but I will report back if it happens to me again.
Installed the hotfix, and it allowed me to get the daggers skill achievement, but polearms achievement still appears broken.
I just encountered this bug. Previously I had been able to go downstairs to the second floor, but all of a sudden the stairs stopped working. Have you tried saving and reloading the game? That fixed it for me.
I have another stair/level related bug: When I load the autosave and try to switch to levels I've already been to (including My pocket dimension) the games crashes. I've looked into the autosave folder and it always just has the level in it where the autosave happend (so like only level9.dat and no other). Might be an issue with the save of the original character folder which include everything. They seem to talk with each other strangely since they don't have the same info. EDIT: Now I see I have an autosave folder with level1, 10, 11 and 12. Seems pretty random ~~ Note that I play on more than one machine. Maybe that matters. Also: level1.dat seems to be for the wizardland (look at the data) where as level0.dat seems to be for the first floor. EDIT2: I seems like the autosave gathers the level by saving again.. So if it saves first on level 5, level 5 is save (in that state). After that it saves every level where the game autosaves on that autosave (in that state). That does strange stuff sometimes. Especially if you play on different machines (like me). My wizard dimension lost several items through that. (I suppose because the autosave wizardland wasn't the same as on my real save folder)
I would add that as of hotfix 8, my problem with Polymorphic Injunction crashing to the desktop has been solved. I assume it won't happen anymore.
I've got a -1 trap affinity on an glove from a Krong anvil, but it won't change that stat at all. The same glove got a -3 enemy dodge reduction, and that one is applying correctly.
My game has become unplayable. did not save in pocket dimension, just normal save, all items stored disappeared. Could not descent from level 1 to 2 after restarting new game with new character stats. previously played to lvl 10, old character still there. uninstalled game thru steam, removed all files and reinstalled.. still same bugs. random crashes after restart in level 2 after wiping out monster room, some equipped equipment then disappeared after save, then crashed. have had no problems upto the most recent core upgrade. can we degrade the exe? or should we just stop playing?
Why is the Mana Maille stacking bug crossed out? You can still make yourself immune to pretty much every damage.
Well the stacking still funtions the same as Radiant Aura and that still on the list ;P Also the non-refreshing of Turtoise maneuver/Suit up isn't on the list yet. (they are missing the removeable="1" in their buff tags since the update where they both got more brittle stacks.)
I just died to a counter attack... from 5 squares away... when I used the polearm ability Talhoffer's Lunge Strike.
That's because this one counts as a normal attack, and those can be countered. Oh boy, I remember people posting about the same thing with Thibault's Trompement.
