Stack on the floor question

Hello all! New player here. I have a question(s) I could not find the answer for:

Is there/what is the limit on how many different items can go on a tile of floor space? What happens if it is reached, do things go to adjacent spaces, or is the first or last thing in the stack lost? Is the limit in the normal dungeon the same as in the pocket dimension? Is the line about gnomes probably not stealing crafting junk in there a joke or does it happen?

There's no limit, as far as I know. Well there might be one but it would be ridiculously high.

Thanks! Another question - the levers that flip back and forth without doing anything or giving any messages, do they do something elsewhere or are some levers duds? And those that make those blue gem-like things on the floor that disappear when you step on them, what do those do?

Some levers do nothing, I think. The blue gems heal you when you step on them.

I like to Imagine Dredmor's sitting in his kitchen, trying to enjoy a cuppa, and his lights keep flashing on and off because Our Hero is up on Floor 2 fiddling with "dud" switches.

Cool, thanks. One more question - I see posts about a force door kick being implemented in the future, from a long time ago.
Was it ever put in, or do I need to drop and pick up my lockpicks like it suggests?

    1. The Gnomes won't steal your junk(as far as I know), the line was a joke.
    2. The only way to kick doors down is to first drop all your lockpicks. This saves lockpicks for more useful things, such as locked chests, but you have a tiny chance to take 2 damage from hurting your foot, and kicking the door down makes it impossible to close the door on monsters(monster zoos, Dredmor himself). And best tip of all: NEVER play on Evilishly Easy. If you want easy, go with Dwarvish Moderation. And ALWAYS have Permadeath ON. This game is a Roguelike, and you're supposed to die alot, and you're supposed to lose everything when you die.

    Uh oh...

I don't think it is the "best" tip. Sure, people who want to get better will likely find playing on the lowest difficulty to be too easy in comparison with the other difficulties, but there are situations where playing without permadeath is better (when people want to test a build that is fragile, it is better to be able to die repeatedly on that 3rd or 4th floor without having to go back there from the beginning each time).

EE is good for the achievement, and w/o PD is for testing. I started obsessing about Evililshly Easy ever since I found the "Elvish Reality" mod. In the Dwarven/Elven war, I'm rooting for the Dwarves.

Heh - I am using EE until I win at least once on it, then stepping up - but I do have permadeath on. Also, question: is the strength of wands linked to the users stats, the way the spells would be if cast as class skills? Meaning, will the wands be weaker when used by a war/rogue than when used by a wizard build?

    *buzzes through wiki*

    Scales with :magic_power::
    Tesla
    Handy
    Tentacular
    Stony
    Rock
    Gelatinous
    Pearlescent
    Camera

    Scales with :wand_burn::
    Bling
    Arcane

    Scales with :magic_power: AND :wand_burn: :
    Naarwhaand
    Icicly
    Deciduous
    Meatwand
    Sonic (also :tinkerer:)
    Transmogrification (also :tinkerer:)

    Scales with Nothing:
    Bony
    Zodiacal
    Coral
    Laser

That said, a lot of them are useful for a warrior. Tesla gives :resist_voltaic:, Sonic silences (great for Dredmor!), Naarwhaand hits hard and paralyzes, etc. Zodiacal removes curses, which can be very handy no matter what character you are.

I see! Thank you. I found that part of the wiki - and it had the Wandcrafting symbol, but the mouseover read "Wand Use Affinity". Same thing?

Should be, but that name would be related to the older, non-crafting version of the skill, when wands had burnout chance rather than charges.

    1. Get rid of Wand Use Affinity, replace it with something else(like magic reflection, encrusting instability, Wandcrafting skill).
    2. I usually tend to sell all my wands(most of them at least). They give alot of Zorkmids even on Going Rogue, which is extremely useful for buying bolts, thrown, food and armour. I do sell some bolts(like steam rocket, Grappling Bolt and Stone Bolt), but only because I don't really find them useful for damage. Am I supposed to shoot the steam rocket bolt at the ground? Or can I shoot an enemy with it? And what is a bludgeoning device?

Don't forget Coral Wands! You get a nice quick regen buff with those.
I hope you're using Dredmorpedia instead of the woefully outdated Dredmor wikis. Dredmorpedia gets information directly from the game files, whereas the two wikis need to be updated manually and haven't been for awhile.

    Transmog also scales with smithing.

I have found Dredmorpedia too, and use it as well. Thank you for the tip though!
