Lutefisk Champion/Acolite Brainstorming

  1. Hi there! Since I started playing Dredmor, I wanted to play a skill tree based on the Lutefisk´s God, I saw a lot of people starting to work on mods like that but they never finished them or I never could find them. Well, in resume I want to do two skills trees. One for a Warrior and the other for a Wizard/Rogue.

    Lutefisk Champion (Focused on Melee)
    - Starts with a Horadric Lutefisk Cube. Each kill has a chance to summon a lutefisk. And of course Lutefisk Champions and variants should be friendly, if possible.
    - Charm. By spreading the Watery Word you convince enemies to join your cause (For a few turns)
    - Prayer to the Lutefisk´s God that heals you. (Because Melee characters need heal.)

    Lutefisk Acolite/Wizard/Shaman (Focused on Magic)
    - Starts with a Horadric Lutefisk Cube. And of course Lutefisk Champions and variants should be friendly, if possible.
    - Spell Lutefisk Smite Lite.
    - Summon Lutefisk´s champions as allies.

    Basically I need more ideas for the Warrior set, more skills. I want to use the same spell caused by trying to polymorph a Horadric Lutefisk´s cube into other one as a capstone. Maybe as a level 7 skill. Should it be for the Wizard or for the Warrior?

    What would you like to see in a Lutefisk´s Champion skill tree?

    Warrior:
    Shrine Guardian: Passive +1:burliness:. While fighting in a room containing a Lutefisk shrine, +3:dmg_righteous:+3:armor_asorb:
    Fiskal Returns: Upon consuming Lutefisk, +3:burliness: +3:life_regen: for 9 turns. Upon Tithing lutefisk, +2XP per Lutefisk tithed.
    Cubic Clubbing: Melee attack, +4:dmg_crushing: +1:dmg_righteous:. If this attack crits, the Cube is forced over the enemy's head (or other northern appendage), instantly converting them into Lutefisk. [Alternative name: Fisk of the North Star]

    Wizard:
    Shrine Keeper: Passive +1:sagacity: . While fighting in a room containing a Lutefisk shrine, +3:magic_power: +6:magic_resist:
    Fiskal Benefits: Upon consuming Lutefisk, +3:sagacity: +3:mana_regen: for 9 turns. Upon Tithing lutefisk, +2XP per Lutefisk tithed.
    Cube Vortex. deals :dmg_transmutative:, if this spell Haywires the enemy is sucked into the Cube, instantly converting them into Lutefisk.
     
  4. It is possible to create a buff that activates only when eating Lutefisk? All my previous attemps were a failure.

    Also, same question for the Shrine Keeper. I do not know if that is even possible...

    Aside from the coding limitations or my limitations ;), your ideas are pretty good. I really liked all of them.

    You'd have to add a trigger to the lutefisk item, but then it will be easy.
     
  6. If I do that, that particular buff will be available for all the characters, right? Not just for the Lutefisk´s champion/acolite. I need to trigger the buff just for these two skill sets... maybe their Lutefisk spawning skills can create a tweaked version of it... like a Blessed Lutefisk or something that gives the buff. I wanted their spawned Lutefisk to be used in the Shrine. But if they already own a Cube, it would be easy to polymorph them to normal Lutefisk...

    What would happen if I create that Blessed Lutefisk and add a requirebuffontrigger that is always present but not visible? Always active in the two Lutefisk skill sets. In that way, if any other character eats a Blessed Lutefisk, it will just receive the normal 1 food healing buff.

    One trigger for the item, one trigger for the skill. One triggers a dummy buff, the other checks for it when activating.
     
  8. Great. Which that, I can also create two different dummy buff inside the Lutefisk, one for the warrior and one for the wizard.

  9. Since you are going to be swimming in lutefisk, consider being able to make lutefisk based item via recipes/level. You could also distinguish between lutefisk by having the tree create "sacred lutefisk". Also. unless i am mistaken, you can actually feed items to monsters by dropping it on them. Makes for interesting interactions if you're willing to consider including a debuff that doesn't apply to the player on said item. Or actually making it an outright poison item.
    "Sacred Lutefisk - Indistinguishable from normal lutefisk in every way. Don't ask too many questions, or the lutefisk god could smite you. He tends to do that, whenever someone asks. Just don't ask."
    "Lutefisk Wine - Used for holy lutefisk sacraments. Or scaring little children. Smells and tastes suspiciously like lutefisk blood, but if the lutefisk god says t'is wine, t'is wine. Comrade, Lutefisk is always right"

    Wizard: Sanctuary. On activation, a buff is added to the player that breaks if he moves (similar to Demonologist's Celestial Circle). As long as Sanctuary is active, enemies are pacified, but the player can't cast any spells, and he is penalized by -10 Bur and -9999 Melee power.

  12. Nice idea Megaron! (I needed to restrain myself to avoid typing Megatron). I will tweak it a little but it gave me a very good idea.
