Hey I reached floor 9 in my game the other day. I saved and left it alone. Came back today and found my save had vanished. In it's place was a save from 3 floors ago. I could accept if that had been a recent save and the game had had some weird hiccup, but between floor 6 and 9 I know I saved a lot and picked up the game on many different occasions over the course of a week or two. Where did this old save come from and what happened to all the saves between floor 6-9 ? Is there a way to fix it? ( I'm playing on perma death)

Just one question - are you playing on Steam?

If you were using the hotfix, when the patch hit Steam the cloud took over from before you started using the hotfix.

yes I am using steam. Does that mean there is no fix for this?

Not if you want someone to remake your saves. Steam literally ate them. Sorry.

To explain a bit more: it was probably some weird issue with Steam Cloud syncing. If this happens to you quite a lot you could try the -nukesteamcloud launch parameter. It erases your save data but it has helped some people from further shenanigans. Another option which I have heard works is to simply run the game executable from the folder itself, although i am assuming steam achievements would not track properly then.

  7. Also if you run it from the folder itself if you ever DO run it from steam it will eat your saves.

I just disabled steam cloud entirely and it appears to have stopped, although, at the cost of not having steam cloud in any of my other games (but also Dredmor is the only game I play on more then one computer anyway sooooooo)

  8. Okay so apparently even with steam cloud DISABLED steam decided to go do this on me randomly D:

Which isn't too big of a deal since my saves weren't too far. But.

What the fuck seriously how do I make this stop, it happens fairly consistantly on me D:

Copy the "Dungeons of Dredmor" directory from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ to anywhere else and run it from there without Steam loaded.
