Forgetful text log message

I get the message "Suddenly you feel like you've forgotten something very important. What was it?" in my text log sometimes, at the end of Wizardlands. What does this mean?

 

I think it's supposed to be a scripted message relating to a past event in the game.

I don't remember what it was, though...

 

That's just the game messing with your head.

No, you hadn't put it in the game. Not that it matters, since I reckon there aren't many things you could use it for (if any at all).

 

So is this just clutter, like the "you need more vespene gas" messages?

Yeah, it is a clutter alright. Not the only clutter, in fact, as there are a few other messages of the kind (with the only non-clutter one being the one about cash registry sounds, I think).

 

"We'd like to remind you that today is Take Your Daughter to Dungeons of Dredmor day! So be sure to... Oh, nevermind."

When does the cash register sounds one happen?

 

Whenever you are close enough to a shop.

 

Oh. No wonder I never caught onto that. Because it happens so rarely due to Braxless floors on NTTG. >:c

 

Well, it was put there because originally shops weren't supposed to be guaranteed [on normal floors], so that way if you got this message, you'd know there is a shop at all.
