I know this is likely all the fault of Steam and not at all anything to do with Gaslamp, but I've noticed that whenever I start/play a game in Offline Mode, I can save/load/quit all day long, but as soon as I get back online, all of my saves are mysteriously gone, including my autosave! Due to similar game save issues I had about a month ago, I disabled the Steam Cloud (at least I thought I did) but does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this? I'm not always able to play DoD in a location with internet support, and the craving to nail Wraiths with dwarven boomerangs just takes over and I can't resist... which has led me to getting 3 characters to Dlvl 5-6 in as many days, only to have all data mysteriously vanish
That's cause of the cloud. If you disabled it, run the game with the -nukesteamcloud parameter once to clear out the old saves.
Argh! It's still deleting my saves automatically, all the time! This is probably the #1 cause of my frustration with this game, yes, even above murderous rutabagas (only because those seem to have disappeared with the patch ) I feel like the cloud is not getting nuked correctly.. Dredmor says that all my game saves/high scores will be deleted, and I confirm that.. and it seems like nothing happens since all my high scores are still there! I can't seem to make any progress in this game when I have to start all over every time I come back to it..
Go to DoD's folder in your "Documents" (".../Documents/Gaslamp Games/Dungeons of Dredmor/") and open the file "config.xml". There, you will find this line: Code: <setting name="enableSteamCloud" value="1"/> Just change 1 to 0 and save. VoilĂ , your problem should be solved.
