We need some more sophisticated controls for debug mode, perhaps some kind of command console or something. I have recently been trying to test some custom potions and it took an excessive amount of time to get even one to spawn (the situation was made worse by the fact that I needed several, not just the one). I imagine that a similar issue probably exists with custom monster testing. For this reason I am suggesting that some means be implemented to be able to spawn a specific item or a specific monster in debug mode.
