Hi all, I'm looking to pick this up. My question is this: If I purchase this through the Humble Store will I also get the Steam Keys? This normally happens with the Humble Bundles. Steam currently doesn't support Google Wallet which I why I ask. Thanks in advance for any and all help you can provide.
Bummer but thanks for the heads up. Steam supports PayPal which, whilst useful, is problematic for me in my locale. Google Wallet is much easier for me. Ah well, I'll figure out some way to buy this game.
Typical that GameFly sells to most countries except mine. Desura is a nice platform but I've got too many games on Steam to want to keep track of a 2nd platform. I'll figure something out.
A second platform? Man, I've got games from GameFly (2 accounts), Impulse, GamersGate, GOG, PC World Downloads, Steam, Origin and even Ubisoft And I think you can download straight from Desura - you don't need their client. AFAIK.
Althea's correct, there are standalone downloads now. Hopefully they've been updated to the latest version though (the site took a while to do it last time).
Sure. PayPal used to work for me but has been erratic over the last year with frequent account limitations when trying to buy from Steam. Humble Bundles have allowed me to use G Wallet and give me steam keys in exchange. This is not an uncommon method although there are other locations that position G Wallet as a separate purchase with no Steam integration. I'll get this game somehow.
Well technically I have more than just Steam, I've got some Origin, Impulse and GOG stuff on rare occassions either because they were tied into PS3 purchases, hard to find at that time (e.g. Total Annihilation on Impulse) and some old GOG freebies. Steam just works in a way that I like. It has cloud sync so game saves and games can be downloaded easily if I upgrade or something happens, it has a decent community aspect and persistent achievement tracking. I've checked out Desura and it definitely has some great stuff on it though, although it appears that much of this may make it to Steam through their greenlight feature.
Maybe, but unlike Steam you don't need Desura's client for everything (I doubt you "need" it for anything, actually). So whether it's a small indie game or a bigger studio project, you don't need the client. Unlike Steam... Oy. I don't particularly 'like' any solution of that kind. Impulse has always been on the 'shit' side, GameFly is a bit of a pain, Steam is Steam, Origin... isn't too bad, mind you. But yeah, really - Desura is probably the best place to go that isn't Steam for Dredmor.
Steam takes credit cards, I would think that prepaid cards work juts fine? Or is that not an option? Expansions are worth it If nothing else, I am sure someone could buy you a copy, and trade on steam and you pay them through something else.
