So, downloaded the free one for now. Anyone want to give me a crash course on what the two DLCs added?
YHTNTEP added 4 new skills, a bunch of new monsters, a few new items, some balancing changes, and is free. CoTW added the pocket dimension, new weapon skills, new skill lines, diggle hell, Vlad Digula, minibosses (actual minibosses, not random bosses, though they still show up.), wizardlands you can access by finding new codes in the dungeon, or getting them from our handy dandy workshop thread, and lots of other cool junk. TL;DR - you got your money's worth for the paid expansion and your time's worth for the free one. Enjoy.
Actually, I think Daggers and Pole Arms were expansions to the core game. You get them even if you just by the base game with no expansions.
YHTNTEP: A whole bunch of crazy-ass stuff created by the modders here on the boards. Easily worth it for Bergstrom's amazing rooms and Fax' killer traps even if you don't like any of the skills. CotW: Several new monsters, skills, and rooms -- but the real win here is the Pocket Dimension, which completely changes everything about how the game is played, and is alone worth the purchase price. Also, Diggle Hell.
I downloaded the free one, haven't bought the new one yet (seeing if I really want to get back into this game before making the purchase) and I picked up the item that enabled the pocket dimension just fine. The icon is sitting in the bottom right screen -- I haven't gone in because I had assumed it was like a mysterious portal with death at every turn.
The pocket dimension was put in as part of the core package in patch 1.1.1, access to the wizardlands is what gets controlled by your having CoTW or not. I sort of forgot about that.
The pocket dimension is Perfectly Safe (and not in the Clockwork Empires sense of the term). The portal machine inside, however...
