Repairing wands?

So most of the achievements are rather self-explanatory, but one of them is making me scratch my head a little. "You Used All the Glue on Purpose", for repairing 500 wands with the n-Dimensional Lathe. I'm guessing it means crafting wands, "repairing" a burnt out one into a functional one? But I've crafted a few wands here and there, and don't appear to have any progress towards the achievement (actually, there's no progress bar at all).

So, wondering if there's some function of the lathe I've been overlooking.

The old version of Wandcrafting was a skill called "Wand Lore" that let you recharge partially used up wands. Wands worked sort of like encrusting, with an "entropy value" that was added every time you used the wand. High entropy had a greater chance of destroying the wand.

In short, it's an old achievement, unobtainable now.

...But the lathe didn't exist back then, I thought? hmm. Will look into it.

I vaguely remember there being a lathe in the game, but not a crafting item.

Actually, that's a good point. I seem to remember it coming it later. Uh... was it... Actually, this sounds more right. There was the first-tier skill that you could use to remove the entropy on an existing wand, and then the lathe let you "repair" burnt out wands i.e. just making a new wand, as urthdigger said.

Maybe it's just steam refusing to keep track of wand crafts? I know I haven't gotten heroic vandalism credit since... like ever.
