Stuck on an island!

    Hi guys,

I should start off by pointing out that I am fairly new to the game but absolutely loving it so far. However, in my latest play through, I seem to have got myself stuck on an island.

    See this image!

Since floor six, I seem to have started sometimes to teleport randomly backwards after a melee attack on an enemy. I don't know if I picked up an item that causes this or whether it might even be a bug. I'm pretty sure it isn't in any of my skill trees so I can only assume it is an effect brought about by one of my items. As I'm new to the game, I'm not 100% sure what everything does, especially the magical enchantments, so it could be something obvious!

Anyway, I'm sure you can guess what happened. I went to melee an enemy and then found myself knocked back/teleported on to the island in the image above. I am now, to my best knowledge, stuck although I'm hoping that there may be a way to get off the island that I don't know about! However, I don't have any teleporting potions or magic that would help as far as I am aware.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. If I'm stuck, I guess I'll have to kill my character off and start again. :( However, I'm willing to bet I'm missing something obvious, especially as I am so new to the game.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    Crouchy.

You are randomly blinking when you recieve enemy attacks because of the gnome cap. That's the item's special ability.
And you can easily get out of the island, because the south wall is breakeable. Try using Ragnar's meteor in front of you and it will crumble apart.

Right, that makes sense! Thank you.

Excellent. Now I feel really silly.

That worked perfectly. Thank you again.

I guess I have a lot to learn in this game. :D

Nothing to feel bad about. I didn't learn about destructible walls until I'd played the game for over 200 hours... and even then it was from these forums not my own discovery.

Not everything can break them. When I first started playing I thought the game was buggy and re-arranging terrain when I used certain abilities.

Thanks TheKirkUnited. That does make me feel better. :D

On that subject, how exactly can I tell when a wall is destructible?

This actually turned out to be the run in which I defeated Lord Dredmor for the first time! So extra thanks for your help guys!

I was really nervous when I finally found him on floor 15.

I spent a lot of time running away at first but quickly found out just how effective it was to use my Unholy Warcry and to summon my Wyrmling to distract Dredmor while I went all out melee style on him!

    Huzzah!

This was on Dwarvish Moderation with permadeath on. Now I need to step up my game to tackle the hardest difficulty. :)

Hit it with an area-of-effect skill/item which deals damage to the terrain and not just to enemies - Obvious Fireball is an example of such a skill, and the "bomb" items are the same, which you can probably guess due to their explosion animation playing regardless of whether there are mobs or not.
