From the update: "similar to standard flocking algorithms." I read that as standard FLOGGING algorithms, and I must now immediately demand that the team work on standard public floggings and their proper algebraic formula. :p

So am I. Really, considering how many "big name" games are released full of holes nowadays just because they didn't want to delay the release [too much], I'd rather wait 3 more months or so and get a product which is shiny instead of greasy.

Not like I plan to die in these 3 months, and if I planned that then I definitely wouldn't care about the game in the first place.

You just made me think about something: When I get old and still play games, there really will be games that wont come out before my death because they were delayed. So what if there actually IS someone with a deadly disease waiting for CE? Now I am depressed...

I'm actually kind of glad for the longer development time because of the quality of the blog.

Reading about the processes and apparent madness in the office really is quite enlightening.

Certainly would not be half the fun it is without the blog.

Interesting post. In particular as it does seem to hint at what sort of background one might be able to create for one's administrator. And that there are ones to choose it seems.

If i am extrapolating this the right way of course. Either that or rampant alcoholism will be required to play the game.

SOOOO from the troubling account, is it purely creative writing or can we infer from it that gaslamp will involve the player controlled bureaucrat in combat? I sure hope so.... unless it is really easy for them to die.

Well a Bureaucrat never dies. Just passes out in combat and mysteriously wakes up in his office with a strange note infront of them from the Church of the holy cog.

It also tends to be one of the reasons that so many Bureaucrats end up with strange ticks and quirks..

Makes me think of Hellboy. When Rasputin comments about each time he comes back to life " A little more of my master comes back with me. " Could be a fun way of advancing... :)

I'd love it if in the game one would hear
    "Sightings !"
pronounced in a "haywire" kind of voice

whenever strange things happen near your colony

@Dreadlord: If in accordance with certain choices made by your bureaucrat. Though one could certainly choose the method of revivification as well, what sort of advantages and disadvantages you want.

Black Magyck ? Black Science ? Jingoism ? Eldritch Influences ? The Revivificator Mk VXI ? Spirits so potent that they need to be kept in a vacuum ?

I think I'm buying 11 copies instead of my original plan of 5.

Well that was a VERY interesting blog post.

Liked all the details. How officers play a part in it. The fact that putting troops in a defensive position toughens them up (not just that they are harder to hit but in terms of morale as well. Was actually a vital part of German planning in WW2. A large part of Normandy was manned by considerably less trained and equipped troops. A large part russian :p)

So that really has the Jackboots Marching Gears running in my head.

The mention of unity of command is also quite welcome. Excellent game :) And certainly one wonders how offensive action will be conducted, will i get to view assaults on other places and command ? Or will it only be around the colony ?

And i suppose another question becomes level of equipment for troops and training. How well can i equip them ? Train them ? Will it have an effect ? Can i form elite units ? And will there be different types of Steam armour ? IE, depending on nation of make. Novyrus, Republic mechanique, Stahlmarkia and so on. Will i also have recce ?

But really exciting stuff. Now question is how does the police work and can i use that to set up a police state ? :p or shall i just have to set up fortified military positions in the colony ? :D

Put this on the page, forgot that it doesn't link here, and think it's worth repeating so the devs know just how I feel:

I’ve been interested in this game since it was announced and have followed it nearly religiously. Despite great stories, very interesting ideas, and other such stuff, NOTHING HAS EXCITED ME MORE THAN THIS LINE.
“Further, the best combat positions are of course immobile defensive works.”

Thank you. It’s one of my favorite things of AoE2 games: building huge intricate arrays of castles and walls and towers and sitting back to see if my brother could get past them. Then you go and throw in logistics? To quote somebody, I think it was Rommel:

“Novice strategists study tactics. Masters study logistics.”
