I think I'll wait for it to get to beta to try it.

I haven't tried that particular rogue-like, but I've dabbled with another recent one, "A Rogue's Tale". It's also very tough. I think the best I've done is level 5 (character, not dungeon). The game is classless and has a bunch of unlocks, and is all too easy to lose the game in the first few seconds of it if you get unlucky. The dungeons themselves can be very small and when you complete one, you simply reset it and continue with a new dungeon but the same character.

As a joke (to myself, no less) I bought the infamously bad Might & Magic IX on GOG a short while ago, and only just managed to get it running today (no thanks to GOG's useless support. Mentioned the support article they told me about was no use for me on Win 7... and they told me to 'refer back to it' in a later e-mail.) thanks to a quick and simple registry edit. I gave it a bit of a play tonight. It's absolutely horrible looking, Morrowind looks like photo-realism in comparison, and the controls are a bit iffy. It tries to be like the grid-based games but with a mouse-look system. Which utterly fails and makes combat a billion times harder than it needs to be.

And talking of the combat, it's stupidly unbalanced. The game pits you against some rock-hard enemies on the first island after the 'tutorial zone' (and those you face at the end of that island ain't exactly a cake walk) though I found out that they tend to just knock your party members out so you can sort of fudge your way through combat, rest, fudge your way through combat, rest, etc. until you get somewhere. In other words, it takes your character about three days of in-game time to move maybe a quarter of a mile. Oh, and I've got an all female party, so yeah. We iz awesome(ly bad at this game). Oh, and the quests don't tell you anything of use.

So yes, so far it's living up to its reputation. But I can't wait for M&MX: Legacy.

And then I played a bit more Legend of Grimrock this evening to wind down. I did some things and somehow ended up with higher quality gear than I had the previous run (be damned if I can do it again). I did almost completely wipe on that room that locks you in with the two spore-spewing monsters on.. um... is it Level 3? 4? Only managed to *just* fudge my way through it and survive. But I thought "Hm, before I progress further, I should make sure my characters have the best gear I've found so far and I should dump the rest". This is the pile of stuff.

I've been playing Defiance. This is a really fun game. A broken as hell game (that is getting patched) but a really fun game. Think borderlands meets guild wars 2 meets saints row 3 (mostly the side activities and challenges).

If you play it, let me know and we can hook up in game maybe!

It's oddly expensive, though, and I've no interest in the show so for me it's a pass.

You can get it for $40 on GMG with a coupon.

Add in t3h season pass and you're talking a lot of money.

Oh, absolutely but I never get season passes so I didn't include that in the price, personally.

Playing OpenTTD. Somehow, just somehow, I've managed to break it so much that I'm making a profit.

Either that or I've learned to play the game a little.

I've been TRYING on and off for a few days to play Civ 5 again, but it keeps crashing on me whenever I try to load a saved game (doesn't even get far enough to select a save to load). I can start as many new games as I like, and so long as I play continuously without shutting it down, I'm golden. Not much consolation since I have to sleep some times. I haven't gotten any response on the official boards or steam, and nothing I've tried so far has worked (updating drivers, checking cache, running separate installers, reinstalling the game, etc.). It doesn't matter which version of direct X I run, if I load mods, or not, etc.

I guess I can go back to Civ 4 for now.

That depends. If you are investing in material transport and earning money, you learned how to play the game. But if you are investing in "people transport" and making a profit, you definitely broke the game.

It was material transport, certainly. But I was joking, considering I'm typically pretty bad at games.

My signature pretty much sums it up. I have a method and I stick with it.

Finally pushed myself to finish The Blackwell Deception. Well, there's two or so hours (on top of maybe another hour or so I put into it before) I won't get back.

Easily the weakest of the four. Visually? Unappealing. Puzzles? Pathetic at best. Story? Obvious escalation to a 'bigger' picture which will probably be dealt with (partially) in Blackwell 5.

I am at the moment doing a complete run-through again of The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Trilogy, with each of their respective Complete mods installed of course. Still one of the most atmospheric and down-right creepy games out there, and fewer games' mythos and setting have grabbed me as much. Twas a sad day when things got shuttered, and Survirarium...well...MMO's since Galaxies don't sti well with me.

Well I've been doing something that, due to an NDA, I'm not allowed to talk about lol.
In my spare time, I've also dabbled a bit with trying to get Civ 5 to work (still doesn't), Dary's Legend (a simple rogue-like that was mentioned a while ago, still in development), and the beta for Legends of Eisenwald.

Legends of Eisenwald is similar to HoMM, but with less emphasis on magic, more on the might (to quote something I heard somewhere). I got wiped out in like the first 15 to 20 minutes, due to a totallly lopsided fight I unfortunately didn't realize would be quite so lopsided. If you like games like Heroes of Might and Magic, you might want to check it out.

Started a new character on Skyrim last week (I think) and enjoyed it more than I thought I would, which was surprising. It's not scratching the itch I have completely, though, and I think I'm going to take another short break until Dragonbjorn goes on sale.

Also picked Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning back up when I realised I still had it installed, and I've put a further five hours into my character in the last few days. It seems to suddenly have 'clicked' for me, though judging by how much of the map is left to uncover I'm almost completely convinced that the game is too big for the way it plays.

Let's see, I have been playing Dead Island, Dead Space 2, Darksiders and the Sword of the Stars: The Pit demo. I have already beaten Darksiders and Dead Space. Dead Space was beaten once while I have beaten Darksiders twice and am now going through the game on Apocalyptic. For some reason Darksiders seems to be much easier to play on Apocalyptic than it ever was on normal. :)

Almost beat A Valley Without Wind 2. God what a difficulty-spikey game. Super irritated at it. :|

Been playing Starseed Pilgrim, no idea what's going on but it's asthetically pleasing and mechanically fun.
