A few of my colonists *appear* to be spontaneously combusting, but I can't be sure since I'm only noticing when I get a ticker message. There were no enemies (including Obeliskians), supply drops, or mines around, so all I can think of is modules exploding from breakdowns? The more interesting part is that it doesn't affect them at all. No panic whatsoever. In fact, the first colonist I saw it happen to just did his happy walk, while on fire, then just went right to sleep after it extinguished itself. And then this happened a little later: Again, they just went about their business until a few of them died, and others probably only suffered some "minor" third degree burns. This is an old 35C save loaded into 36 (and before the hotfix), so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Posted a save anyway.
Yeah, I think it must have been exploding modules. People don't currently panic and react to fire because I need to do a little more AI; this will wander in at some point in January.
Ah, well it certainly adds an element of humor! I'll think of it as the latest in experimental therapeutics.
Extrapolating this out... if someone catches fire and then burns to death, and you butcher them, would the long pork then still need to be cooked? Purely theoretically speaking, of course.
How often do you find fires start out? I haven't had any yet, although I think I'm ok with that for the minute...
I only see fires start from bombing runs or landmine blasts near trees (Obeliskians can do it as well). The ones that started from the shots I took above are a mystery. Apparently they can start from module breakdowns, but I've never been able to repro that. Important note: It does spread well amongst a crowded populace. In that game I went from a population of 100 to 6 in a couple of days. Totally worth it.
Bombing runs?! There's so much of this game I haven't seen yet... I know they're in the game I just haven't called one in yet.
