Is there a way to levitate/float/tele with potions?

Mathematician has a controlled teleport near the end of the tree. I assume you can random 'port your way across, too, but I've never managed it.

In the artful dodger tree the skill Knightly Leap is a teleport skill. it ports you in a "L" shape just like a knight does in chess. i have yet to see a moat i cant port over yet with it.

the tree also has the combined (all 3 skills) benefit of giving you a +10 to your dodge chance and +2 to your Nimbleness. so quite useful for any class of character.

He's asking for ways to do this without skills...

There is indeed a potion that allows you to teleport, but it does so randomly: you cannot control it. Outside of that I do not know of anything that provides mobility outside of skills.

^ Iv heard horror stories where that Potion has actually landed people on the island then they've had no way to get off it.. Goodbye game save!

Always have a back-up plan before drinking a potion of Spatial Instability. =)

handy wand can access those items sometimes ...otherwise you have to use knightly lead move in mysterious ways or mathemagic

The problem is the Handy Wand can only target yourself or a monster, therefore the only way to use it on an island artifact is to summon something on it and then use the Handy Wand.

And you could also use Psionics... Psychokinetic Push is exactly the same thing as the Handy Wand's effect, except it can target any tile.

You can use the mace skill because it pushes objects, too

You can use a handy wand or a spatial distortion pot.

Edit: it seems I was wrongly assuming that the stony wand worked the same way as the spell it mimics... turns out you can't use it on a space that isn't occupied, so you might be able to use it if you can lure a batty or a genie over the item.

Edit 2: I just managed to lure a batty over the island and it would appear that the stony wand will shunt the item off of the island when it makes the wall appear. so you could also theoretically use a stony wand plus a summon skill to dislodge items from the island.

Throw concussion grenades at the items.

We really need a flying effect, and artifacts and pots and wands that grant it. As it is, Knightly Leap makes Artful Dodger a must-have skill, since otherwise you're missing out on all those artifacts.

Why is Knightly Leap must-have...? A lot of alternatives have been mentioned here.

But they're all situational or icky!

    The alternatives are:
    1. Random teleport until you get there - not very likely, and will use up a lot of your resources unless you have Mathemagic.
    2. Targeted teleport - requires four points in Mathemagic.
    3. Stone pillar spell on island - requires two points in Golemancy
    4. Stone pillar from wand targetting mob on island - requires a stone wand (which is rare), and either a summoned monster (which requires points in one of Fungal Arts or Promethian (or three points in Golemancy, but at that point you can just do number 3)) or a kited monster (which is difficult).

So basically, if you don't have Artful Dodger or Golemancy, you're not getting those island artifacts until much later in the game. And if you try to do it with Mathemagic, it's gong to be long and boring unless, again, it's later on in the game.

Now, if we had potions of levitation, it would all be good.

You forget Psionics level 2, Psychokinetic Push; and the Handy Wand with a summoned monster. People also mentioned concussion grenades and Maces level 4. In any case Knightly Leap is level 2 as well, how is it therefore any less "situational and icky" than Golemancy level 2, Psionics Level 2, any summoning spell plus Handy/Stone Wand, grenades, Mathemagic level 4 or Maces level 4?
