So I have to switch computers. I figured, hey, might as well save some bandwidth, and back up the steam files. I used the backup feature for dungeons of dredmor, and it didn't take so long. But when I went to copy it, as surprised to find out that it was 2.3 GB.. i How on earth did the files get so large? the game was like 150 megabytes when i downloaded it. I couldn't imagine the saves being that big so I checked and they were only 20 MB. I went to the steamapps common folder and DoD is 200 megabytes in that folder. Unless it is also migrating huge chunks of steam with it, it makes absolutely no sense. I ended up copying my save files... I will just reinstall later. What is going on?
All you need to copy are the game files, save files (if you want them), and .GCF/.NCF files in the common folder. I do this all the time, transferring games from work to home (fast connection at work), and from my PC to my brother's.
