@null. I'm incline to disagree with you there; you see, my relations with rogue likes is like that of woman to an abusive spouse: No matter how much it beats me to a bloody pulp -no matter how many times I tell myself that this was the last 12 hours I spent on this game (just to be killed by an acid mine), I keep coming back for more, and more... and more. I don't mind being hacked, mangled, burninated, strangled, stomped on, eaten, spat on, banished, murdered, bludgeoned, dissolved, drowned by an unending hoard of diggles, electrified, spelunked, killed by being to awesome, petrified, having the dungeon collapse on me, terminated, blown to pieces, putting a lutfiskcube inside a lutfiskcube etc etc But getting killed by not making a bloody stupid decision (yeah yeah, let's for one second pretend that building a dodge/counter build isn't a stupid decision :3), it makes me feel... empty? ehm... I don't know... I've got nothing
So basically: The way the skill now works is that it's a buff you can remove and put up at any time you want. So it's your own choice to allow the game to 'dodge' you into secret rooms thus being stuck if you have no other means to escape. Let's thoroughly test this first before continuing this discussion. Sideline discussion: Secret rooms and teleport. IMO, the rooms are secret, you shouldn't be able to see them over a wall or so. Jumping and 'moving in mysterious ways' to me are physical actions. Jumping is leaping and moving in mysterious ways is very quickly sneaking. Those can't get you through a wall. So, I move for implementation that teleport spells, like the random froda's jump discontinuity (is it called that, not certain?), can let you end up on the other side of a wall (thus in a secret room). Also the Transdimensional dodge (we all know those other dimensions are nice to skirt solidity in this dimension). As for directed teleport: imo it requires some knowledge of the place you want to teleport too. So that should not be able to teleport you into an unknown secret room, even if you correctly suspect it's there. BUT, it should be able to teleport you out (unless there's blackness all around you so you're out of range, but I doubt the dodge can take you that far).
This game should have telefragging. I'd build a mage with the rusty helm, and green armor, and just telefrag the crap out of everything.
I also am really annoyed with the random teleport dodge. I got stuck in one of the small one by one rooms with no way out. Had to restart the game and continue from where I had started.
