Sorry to post this twice, but I guess I am using a different version of OS X, enough that it might matter. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (technically Leopard, I guess, but almost Snow Leopard). I can reproduce this crash 100% of the time. It happens on the screen when I have to pick a gender and name the character. When I press "Done" it's a dead crash, and the "Report" pops up (pasted below) . I've tried deleting the Library files as well as reinstalling the game through Steam. I have not yet tried playing WITHOUT Steam, but I shall. Was playing 1.0.6 (Steam) fine until this bizness. Here's a crash report: Code: Process: dredmor [1518] Path: /Users/qshah/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/dungeons of dredmor/Dungeons of Dredmor.app/Contents/MacOS/dredmor Identifier: com.gaslampgames.dredmor Version: ??? as of 23:30GMT this still seems to be occurring with the current steam base game. I've tried a full wipe of steam data + save data but can get no further than CTD after clicking done when you pick your character. tried running with the debug flag option, but don't appear to get anything more on this error, could it be a leopard specific issue?
re-run with full trace, looks like its referencing DLC, however the error seems to be with translating the characters input for a name, which explains why the tutorial works, but it crashes when trying to start a game. When you have entered a name it throws up the dyld errors at the bottom and dies. Interestingly same happens for me with the 1.0.7 that is available on the Humble page, however 1.0.6 that was available on steam ran fine Code: asterix:~ jo$ cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/dungeons\ of\ dredmor/Dungeons\ of\ Dredmor.app/Contents/MacOS/ asterix:MacOS jo$ ./dredmor -debug-flag [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; no appID found. Right there with you, buddy. I had two glorious weeks of avoiding 1.0.7 whilst scurrying around the dungeons. Alas, here we are, Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra.
Same here. (I made a different thread before seeing this one, sorry.) I've been playing in Windows in the meantime, which works pretty well except the mod manager refuses to see any mods. Other than that, score.
Bother. So this is apparently a thing, and nobody can tell me what it is with particular versions of OS X that's the culprit, other than it *might* be Leopard. Are there any Leopard users (10.5.8) who *do* have this working? Otherwise, I'm going to assume Apple Busted The Compiler at some point.
I have the same version of OS X (10.5.8) and I am receiving the same errors as the other posters when I try to run DoD.
Okay! Something's broken. I will... get a copy of OS X 10.5.8 from somewhere... and will take a look. In the mean time, it might be a good time to get OS X 10.6
Thanks for being on this, Nicholas. Although it's getting cold, I am not sure if I want the snow leopard roaming around here just yet.
Bother indeed. Hadn't played Dredmor in a while, and this happens. Keep us posted, Nicholas. If needed, I may just upgrade OS X over this (and a few other reasons). Also, thanks!
Same error for me, just bought DoD on Steam, really cheap (1.11€) but really buggy ^^ Running on OSX 10.5.8, game won't start as you guys, and can't even complete the tutorials as Alchemy crashes when I try to use it... Damn I was so happy to get a nice game running on my macbook :'( I hope this will get fixed soon!
I'm having the exact same problem, even on OS X Leopard 10.5.8. So happy to see a bargain on a great game I hadn't thought of, not to mention the gift pile thingy with it, and then this happens. Hoping for a patch sometime soon.
