Am I seriously the only one who creates stashes of items? Almost always after I've completely cleared the first floor, I find a nice spot (preferably close to some stairs and a shop. Lutefisk altars and Quest Shrines are nice, they give lots of little inlets for pile-tiles), and plonk down ingots, gems, unnecessary food, potions, or mushrooms, and reagents. Whenever I want to do some crafting or storage, I just head on over to my stash. I move it down the dungeons floors as needed, and the materials never seem to disappear (and I'm not sure why they would, or if they even can.)

Sometimes, although it is kind of rare, I even have a pile for items that I want to keep but don't need. If I find an item with some nice fire-resistance, I'll keep it around till I need it.

    It is really quite simple.

They may not disappear, but there are MUCH better things to do with gametime than to play inventory Tetris on the dungeon floor.

It's really doesn't take that much time. Some people might dislike it greatly, but anyone with a rudimentary amount of patience should be fine. If you've positioned your stash well and haven't kept it on the first floor or some such, you should be fine. Plus, it's rare that it will actually be similar to Tetris. At most, you'll have 5 piles, 2 or 3 of which you'll rarely access.

Sometimes I make little stashes near shrines, so I can find them again easily by looking for the shrine on the minimap.

+1 for craftables shouldn't take up inventory space.

It'd be cool to have a 'bag of reagents' which automatically stored all the crafting items for a particular tree.
