Hello people from Gaslamp Games! I recently bought your game, and it is awesome. However, I believe I ran into a peculiar bug that only I have experienced so far. The thing is, during one of my countless attempts to beat the game, I’ve left my game running for 3 hours (not pausing, just leave it there) while doing something else, and when I came back, sound was not working anymore. I know it’s somewhat there, there’s still those lag spikes when there’s a change in the music. I’ve tried muting/unmuting, reinstalling the game (bought it via Steam) and nothing works. Do you have any idea how I could fix that?
Just to make sure, did you make sure that nothing had changed with your OS' sound setting? I reckon you are using Windows, which means that it's highly possible this is causing the problem.
Why yes, I do use Windons (7 to be more precise), but I don't know what could have changed during the time I left the game running and the time I came back. I mean, nothing happened during that time, no one touched my computer either (I currently live alone in an appartment), and everything else's sound seems to work fine. By the way, thank for replying!
Hmm. This happened to me like... once during beta testing but then it fixed itself the next time I started the game. I assume you've tried rebooting your computer? Beyond that I don't really have any idea
I would propose really making sure that it is not muted in Windows' sound settings, as each program then can be muted without affecting the rest, and that could result in the game not having the sound after reinstalling it (I had a similar encounter with it in the past, so I know that the sound settings are saved based on file location, so reinstalling the game to the same directory won't stop the OS' sound settings from muting it, if that is what causes the problem). And it's not like anything has to happen for Windows to suddenly go haywire and do something related to either RAM or sound settings if you leave any game running for a few hours without any input.
Mm, I see. Well where do I check whether Windows blocked it or not (Where in system to be more precise)?
You should see a small speaker icon on the system bar, on the right (it's possible that it's hidden, in which case you need to click on the "arrow" icon nearby). After you click on it, you should see general sound settings and the "Sound Mixer" button (sort of a button, as it's clickable text), with said button being what you need to click on. That should give you the sound settings, but mind you that you need DoD to be running to be able to adjust its sound settings.
