I decided to collect bugs I've experienced, and suggestions of mine that I've not already posted here, and put them into one single thread. Apologies in advance for my poor English (unfortunately it's not my mother tongue, forgive me!) Here we go: Monster zoo bug #1: I found a humungous monster zoo which was divided into two rooms by a door. Notice the unjustified vision of the right part of the zoo. After I killed off the monsters in the first room, I could easily put out all of the remaining monsters in the second room without taking any damage. Monster zoo bug #2: Another huge zoo that was split into two rooms, this time far from one another in the dungeons. Whilst I was able to clear the monster zoo above, it would not reward me after clearing this zoo (but that's ok, I've got the exp). Tooltip suggestion: That monster had lots of negative buffs on it and I suggest you somehow change the way more than let's say 5 or so buffs are shown in the tooltip. Gargoyle acid bolt trap visual bug: There was a trap at my mouse cursor's position (see picture 1 below), then it went off and after the gargoyle head 5 tiles above my guy shot its acid, the acid was shown on a tile it should not be shown on (see picture 2 below). System lag: There is this annoying system lag (Win 7 / 64 bit) when the background music changes. It's specifically annoying when entering or leaving a shop! Monster stuck in wall: Sometimes monsters get stuck in walls. The player then can kill them without taking damage. Red circle bug: I've never had this before, but nothing would happen upon walking onto the red circle, no bunch of monsters or such. Statue of Dredmor target suggestion: Statues of Dredmor cannot be targeted by single target throwing weapons such as boomerangs (I believe that; none of my single target weapons worked). I suggest you allow the player to destroy them with those, like with hand grenades or frag bombs. Character stats update: Sometimes changing equipment doesn't update the player's stats, in the screenshot below shown with a ring that didn't increase my sight radius when I equipped it (other stats did). Achievements that do not work (for me): I have met the requirements on the achievements below, yet Steam and/or DoD won't recognize it Playing For Both Teams Play both the male and the female hero. You Know What Time It Is Equip the Parachute Pants and the Warhammer. Dead Man's Chest Master the Piracy Skill Tree. Skill recharge: "Venomous Infusion" doesn't recharge itself (back to the full 3) like other spells do, for example "Suit Up", when cast whilst there are still 1 or 2 buff points active. Vision (bug?): Sometimes my character gets so many visual sight radius decreasing buffs (shroud of darkness etc) that I can't see anything except my guy! I suggest you set a fixed threshold of 1 tile around the character so players can at least see what's around their char. Vending machine blocks my way: Sometimes props like vending machines block the way to important spots, here to a secret passage with an item that I opened with a lever. Save option for perma death suggestion: When playing with perma death enabled, players can either just quit, or save and quit. Why not add the option to save and continue (it's the same as saving & quitting, then loading the save game, just 100 times more comfortable). - more in the next post -
- continued from the first post - Fog bug: The black mask of the fog doesn't get removed on doors (on their upper tiles), see the 3 screen shots below for the missing black mask update. Unable to complete quest: Sometimes quests cannot be completed, in my featured case not without teleportation skills. I have to use an item on the eyeball shrine but am unable to do so because I cannot reach it.
Oh boy, this is a long post. Thanks for your report firstly. In order: Zoos, not really a bug but you should have received a reward for that second one. It happens very rarely, not sure how. Tooltips, I'll pass it along, thought that was fixed. Gargoyle, strange and never seen that happen. Music lag - will be fixed in the coming patch, hopefully Monsters stuck in wall, known bug. On the list Red circle bug, same thing happens with satanic glyphs, known Some throwing weapons need to be able to target floor I agree. Stats occasionally not showing up is known Achievements get broken off and on with nearly every update, maybe this next one will fix them, not sure. Sight Range is a feature (some monsters cast two spells to reduce it to 0) and well objects blocking the way is part of the RNG. Save and Continue uh...my first reaction was to say 'well, it's permadeath' but thinking on it I see no reason either. Consider me stumped. Fog is wonky in certain places. Known, really low on priority as you can imagine. Quests, well, that's part of the RNG again. If you had one of the 4-5 teleport abilities you could've finished it. Note that the devs might think differently and want to fix the things about the RNG, I don't know.
Incidentally, a "Save and Continue" feature would make random crashes much less annoying, since you wouldn't be pushed back to your last autosave (assuming you save every so often.)
That I agree about. Right now, loading the game OR switching floors botches some things, and one example that really stands out are uber chests. If we could save at any given moment without being forced to switch floors or load the game, we could simply continue, still get the chests' content, and we would have a save that isn't ancient if our game crashed. I agree with Daynab on teleport abilities, though. That's the risk you are willing to take by not taking any of them. And right now there's much more than just 4-5, if you are using mods.
Wow, that is one heck of a post! Great documentation with the screenshots and everything. It's not fun to create a character, and THEN find out later on that your lack of teleportation is a huge liability. There's an inexpensive drink in some vending machines which can give you the AMAZING Szygy buff, so I don't think there'd be a problem with, say, an edible Mexican Jumping Bean that gives you a single use of Knight's Leap. I might make a small mod for that which could help you if you're still playing that character. The general rule of thumb is that you can freely ADD mods to a game in progress, but once you do, you must always load those mods with that savegame thenceforth.
guess i just throw the few bugs i found in here instead of makeing new topics for them: - when i enter a zoo and then go up a level and down again the zoo doesnt "count" anymore = no zoo music, no zoo counter, no reward after killing everything. no clue if its intended so you fight them right when you find them and not run up and back down elsewhere healed up etc... if not it could "reenable" when a zoo monster is in sight, so the counter reappears and the zoo music starts again? -the "character class" on the loading screen and gravestones seem to be always "adventurer" lately... i am pretty sure before one char of me was called "smith" (had most skills in smithing) or "archer" (highest skills in archery)... maybe the diggle addon broke it with the new skills and just writes adventurer now (what was before i think when you had skills everywhere evened out). the "easy" way (like before) would be to give each skilltree a name and show the highest leveled skilltree name... (i.e. smithing if you have most level ups in that tree). -another way would be to combo the highest 2 or 3 trees into some name... i.e. sword+smithing = the swordsmith, or vampirism+golemancy= vampiric construct? -or mixing up the highest 2-3 unlocked skill names into some character class... but that would probably be too much to find a class name for each combination of skills.
The zoo thing is intended, you "forfeit" the zoo, so to speak if you go upstairs or downstairs. The class thing has been bugged for a while, it's known.
Oh so the zoo is intended, its been confirmed by devs ? I think there should be a message to warn you before it happens then, its quite upsetting when you do all the work and get nothing. Do you forfait as well when you enter a shop or take too long ?
