Hi Gaslamp! Thanks for the great game!! Any plans to enable cloud support for the permadeath saves so there is no manipulation and cheating, then reset the ladder or create a new cloud enabled ladder?!
Anyone have any idea on this one? I'd love to see a cloud save game/permadeath ladder.. Make it real out there..
they are making it so that the scores and maps have to go through some form of verification... as far as cloud goes, you can use -opengl. I was told that the normal way steam overlay works does not happen to work with the game
The opengl support is an experimental way to enable the Steam Overlay. However the Steam Overlay has nothing to do with earning achievements.
Only way to stop cheating is to not have saves stored on our end, not only can people edit their saves and score right now but keep a back up making permanent death pointless, thus making achievements pointless. But then again who really cares it's not an online or even MP game so they only affect themselves.
"But then again who really cares it's not an online or even MP game so they only affect themselves. " Except in that case there's no point in having online leaderboards at ALL. They just get manipulated and are useless (as we've already seen).
Cloud Support for all who are posting incorrect responses; is where all saves are stored on servers. These files cannot be accessed by us, but we can load them/save them/delete them via in-game. This also means, you can access the same save from any computer anywhere, as long as you are logged in on your account. -OpenGL allows for the Steam Overlay, nothing more. @satoru None of those have anything to do with achievements. Also, Cloud support will not stop cheating, the system they are putting into place will. Why won't it? Because people are editing the ACTUAL game code, and changing values there.
So... anybody know if they're going to implement savings games on the steam cloud? I have more than one computer and synchronizing save games for Terraria is a pain compared to the games that support steam's cloud saving.
