Stuck at high speed and un-able to change difficulty.

I just got the "You name the expansion expansion" and when I loaded up the game and chose to make a new character the difficulty options (For picking Perma-death/dwarf moderation/ect...) and it just flashed by. I had no time to pick any of the options before it when on to the skill selection screen. I pressed the back button but again it flashed forwards to the skill selection before I could do anything. So I decided to play the game as it was and started the game. But my time warp was stuck at max. I tried turning it down but it went right back up to max right away. I don't know if I should re-install it, or delete all the mods (Its just "Realm of the diggle gods", and the "You name it thingy") .

Any help would be nice. Its kind of un-playable with the speed up bug.

Nobody else has reported this one, so I think it's just you. I'd uninstall and reinstall from Steam and then validate your cache; also, try nuking the contents of your Gaslamp Games/Dungeons of Dredmor folder in "My Documents" (although I wouldn't mind a copy of the contents of that.)

Other than that... hmm, I'm stumped.

Regarding the "skips difficulty screen" thing, it's only when you press a button or click anywhere, right? I believe someone found a workaround, try to scroll the mousehweel over the checkboxes, it should work to check/uncheck them.

Nicholas I think I will re-install. But I copied the folder you said over and put it in a conversation with you just in case you do want to look at it.

I tried what you said Daynab, but it skips the option picking step right away. I don't push any buttons or anything. It just skips it and goes to the skill selection. Thanks anyways.

Really bad news. I re-installed it and verified all the files but it still wont let me change the difficulty options or play on regular time warp. I also deleted all the files in Gaslamp Games/Dungeons of Dredmor.

Could other programs interfere with steam and cause bugs like this?

Other programs could, yes. Do you have any weird or exotic hardware, or maybe some kind of jankity-ass gaming mouse?

I got two more programs since I last played Dungeons of Dredmor. One is "Java 7 32 bit" and the other is "Byond" (Software to run games)

Other that those two nothing has changed on my computer.

I have the exact same problems.

I've been playing around with the difficulty screen and have noticed that even though the screen shown is the difficulty screen, if I click on any part of the screen it will immediately take me to the skills screen, and if I have the cursor on a skill it will choose it. Pushing the Back button will show that I didn't change any of the difficulty settings or even removing the Realms of the Diggle Gods expansion. But clicking on the screen again will take me to the skills page and possibly choosing another skill. In short, it seems that it is showing the difficulty screen but it seems to really just be a "splash"screen for the skills page.

I have removed the Gaslamp Games folder in My Documents. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game on Steam. Verified the cache. I don't have many programs running, just Steam and Chrome. I can't show the Steam overlay in this game only and my laptop never had this issue until the new expansion came out (I didn't play the game until I had bought the Realm of the Diggle Gods so I don't know what caused it, that one or the free DLC). My laptop isn't running too odd of hardware, its a Asus G53JW-A1(http://www.amazon.ca/ASUS-G53JW-A1-Republic-Gamers-15-6-Inch/dp/B0044UF0L6) and its running Windows 7 64 bit. It happens regardless of running the game in Windowed mode or Full Screen mode, screen sizes 1600 or full 1080p. Turned off or on Smooth Scaling. Its up to date, including the patch issues today (June 7). Happens if I have a mouse plugged in (a Razer Naga Molten) or not (touchpad).

I've tried everything I can think of, and nothing seems to work. If there is a log file or something you could use, let me know. Otherwise.... yeah.

*edit* If it matters, I can still get achievements but the game doesn't show that I got them. Only on Steam does it show. And there is a thread started on the Steam forum about this (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2738161) My name is the same on both forums.

*edit 2* I just read Daynabs suggestion and that works. If I hover my mouse over a option in the difficulty screen and move the mouse wheel (not clicking the mouse wheel, that just has the same problem as clicking on the screen), it accepts it as a click. It doesn't cycle through the options, just checks/unchecks whatever the cursor is hovering over. This works on both the mouse wheel on my external mouse and the touchpad of my laptop.

Right, maybe I didn't clarify well enough. Have you tried that, Androido89?

Yes I tried. Sadly it didn't work. The difficulty screen just flashes by without me clicking or moving my mouse or anything. I think I'm going to try uninstalling some programs I don't use anymore to see if they are conflicting with steam in some way. Hopefully that will work.

Best of luck. Let us know if anything fixes it.

I uninstalled some programs but still no progress. It changed nothing at all.

Seeing as un-instaling stuff didn't do anything, I'm wondering if I can somehow delete time warp from the program files. So I would be unable to speed up time but that might fix one of my problems.
