Smithing/crafting annoyances needs to be fixed

I've found some pretty annoying things that I hope can eventually be changed. Apologies if it has been discussed I did search for related threads. This might apply to all the crafting skills but I primarily use smithing so that is what I will use as an example.

It seems to me that when you have 1 iron ingot in your inventory and you are looking at your recipes, you should not see green check marks on items that have a requirement of 2 iron ingots. Currently both required ingots show check marks but only one should be checked. One should still have a red x on it.

As it is now you can have one iron ingot in your inventory and have four check marks on a recipe that requires 4 iron ingots....

I find the recipes screen confusing enough to sort through without being mislead about what I can and cannot currently create at the moment. I think a small change like this could save time and frustration.

    discuss, digest, excrete....

That's one that bothers me too, although not too much, I usually have my recipe screen and inventory screen open at the same time. But it would be nice to see it be more comprehensive in that manner.

  3. yeah, it also needs to show as checked items you have equipped (eg: having iron xbow equipped and not being checked in the upgrade recipe)

It would also be really great if we had a little button that filtered things we cant create at that moment so we can see for what we have mats for.

I agree with the optional filter button, that would be handy. Also I wish the recipes were in some kind of order. Say all level one recipes grouped, level two...and so on. I know from reading another post that they are not ordered in any way in the XML files, but they probably could be with a little tweaking.

Honestly for a game like this, the crafting interface is surprisingly user-friendly. I do agree that stuff like filtering by "have mats" and smarter green checks on what you have in your inventory/equipped would be nice to see in some nebulous future update.

Count me in as someone who wants various methods of filtering and 'smart checks'

A bit better organization of the crafting tables would be welcome too. For example the crude iron sword is listed further down the list than the rough iron sword, even though it belongs above it in the 'tech tree'

This is the way I see how the most user friendly crafting interface should be

    1. Uses a separate unlimited inventory call "ingredients", which simply shows a list of every ingredients you have, naturally this also means auto pick up ingredients by default
    2. No "put stuff in". Just show the list of items/ingredients. If it lits up then I can simply click on it to automatically make, which plays a sound and sends to item directly to my inventory.
    3. No hidden formulas. It's not like people who's playing on steam can't look it up online.

I thought you needed the formula in order to make the item?

Nope, if you happen to know it, you can craft it. But honestly, I play it straight and only craft what I can find.

I'd like to take your thought a step further and have the crafting tool auto-load items from your inventory when you click the appropriate recipe. It'd have to be set so it only works when the crafting tool is empty, but I could work with that. It'd make things soo much easier.

How come one can craft rough iron/steel swords using crude iron/steel swords, but the same isn't true with axes or maces? Where's the logic!?!

I'd love to see those "missing" recipes in the future release.
