I found out you can have both the benefits of two melee weapon masteries with the dual-wielding one. I tested with sword and mace, i had procs from both, like dwarven handshake, or liechtenauer's overhau. That way you start also with two weapons, which means you deal much more damage from the beginning.
Well, you deal 4 crushing damage instead of 2, which combined with melee power means yes, you do more damage. And I figured that's what would happen if you did take two melee weapon skills with it.
You get double the benefit of your mastery if you equip two of the same weapon. Then you don't waste 10 skills.
@Rikkard What do you mean? That doesn't make sense. Waste 10 skills? What? And yeah, if you have one mace mastery and dual wield maces, you're not going to get anything amazing, at least I never got anything amazing. Maybe if you put all the stats in the tree first.
If it's just physical damage, tweakDB.xml indicates that it should be divided by 1.57 Of course whether or not that value is actually used is questionable, as always
@DavidB1111 Having to max out 2 weapon skills is silly. Just max one. Weapon skills are already bad as is. An extra 3 damage for a skill is hardly very useful.
@Rikkard I'm still confused at what you're talking about. I know not to master two skills. I just wanted to know what you meant by waste ten skills and double the benefits. So sue me, I just don't quite understand.
I feel like mace can be mixed with something else. I mean with just 1 point it already got 2 damage and 20% knockback. Since I don't think dual wield give it 2x the processing, and one skill can still only get checked once, it can probably be effectively hybrid into something like staves, which also has stun. But then again, just the cost of a skill tree might be too high. Better off with Archeology or Astrology.
@Patch ahh ok i get you, but i think it would be a good suggestion that you have a less chance to hit the enemy but you still have the damge
skill based weapon procs only function when equipping a weapon of that skill. HOWEVER Special Attacks gained from training up to, i think level 5.. the activated attacks.. Those can be used with ANY weapon (or no weapons). Very useful..
