You know, I only tend to hoard stuff when I don't think there will be more of them. When I play with Wandcrafting I burn through the things like they're paper, saying, "Oh I'll make more someday." Then I die because I burned them all before I had the resources/skill to replace what I used. On the other hand, when I don't have Wandcrafting I'll wind up killing Dredmor with three Coral Wands left over, or get one-shot KOed by something horrid before I even have a chance to reach for my toolbelt. But them's the breaks, I guess...
Guilty as charged. I have died so many times when I could have / should have used hoarded stuff, heh. I finally realized what I was doing, so when I get in trouble now, I unleash the Nasty so I survive those moments. I am a bit glad they made Dredmor neigh immune to HHG, NBF's, etc - I can now use them freely against Zoo's and large mobs, without any pangs of "ooooh, I need to save those!".
