Now there is a blogpost by the devs containing some fixes for the upcoming patch, so I'm not mentioning stuff like rightclicks leading to leftclicks, laggy bloodsplatters and such. So let's jump right into it: Features: - add option to toggle esc popping up the menu/closing window - add global stash in each zoo OR - add 1 storage cube for each crafting tree - add indicator for gained hp point as it's done with mana - add animation for hitting crates diagonal - add text to all levers. - add timestamp on savegames - add # of deaths on character screen - add "switch move mode" option: clicking a tile during walking makes the hero go to the new location - add enemy loot - add close button to Bad Weapon! indicator reset it upon next game start - add icons for important places to the minimap - (uncertain*) add indicator showing on which tiles a spell does more damage compared to the others like it's done on Ragnar's Meteor. - (uncertain**) give heroes the ability to craft recipes at crafting props (alchemist's still, forge, etc.) for the price of triple amount of ingredients (global stash would make a huge balance impact on that though) Reworks/Tweaks: - esc closes last opened window - selfmade traps or traps in general last for several enemies - nerf radiant aura (less damage, higher chance of stun, 3 charges instead of 5) - nerf stolen soul (1 mana less per soul) - Lutefisk doesn't get crafted after closing the box (not a fun mechanic like e.g. limited storage size) - treat animated blade being as a trap: able to be disarmed with a chance to cut your hands. - when standing, not walking towards, near crates or digglesnests, make the next move towards 'em loot/attack. - equipping an item takes a turn - transparent minimap - prevent enemies from spawning in obvious dead-ends and in sight of the hero. - rework casting animation. It reminds me of a subtle hitler gesture. - show props, especially chests, in fog of war - rework porta-still recipes*** - enemies always choose the hero as target in case they stand on an adjacent tile Bugs: - can't distill multiple applejacks without removing each single one from outputbox first - sometimes (~20% of all cases) when learning a new recipe, the window closes after couple of seconds for no reason - pressing save&continue on the left 1/5th of the butten activates save&quit, pressing on the right 1/5th makes nothing. (1440x900 resolution, windowed, all other buttons work fine) - craft boxes behind inventory screen cause a similar effect: as long as both boxes overlap, you can't see itemstats - running away from a zoo and closing a door behind you makes the counter to stay on the same number when you come back to clear it. - in some cases the counter completetly disappears, though I can't remember how/why it happenes. Probably after using stairs. - Using wheelmouse to scroll through tutorials actually starts them - Mustache sometimes stops following you - (uncertain) the 40% rate on traps seems wrong, especially as it doesn't change when leveling up tinkering Various: MOAR statistics! add a spell somewhere which is so sneaky that it actually provides you with: chance to hit enemy/chance to get hit by enemy/chance to hit enemy with x damage. this is probably something for a mod though, as it would get messy. but i love stats. I'd like to see something that many mods did to Diablo 2, where you could flip your stats screen and were provided with all statistics you could ever wish for. This combined with Sacred's enemy comparison chart would be epic. *AFAIK Ragnar's Meteor's first 3 squares are yellow and do double damage, the squares behind are red and only do normal. I could be completely wrong on that, but it would be cool if it were so and also if it was added to spells like Thibault's Trompement (Sword Skilltree) or Dragon's Breath. **Do those props like Alchemist's Still have a purpose? I tried a recipe once and it only accepted the bottle but not the other ingredient. ***I'd like to need bottles for more realism when using the porta-still. Crafting an apple into a bottle of cider and using the cider to craft it into a bottle is weird. I know it's not a real life simulation even despite it could be taken for it. But unrealistic and not-fun mechanics like these just "take me out of the game". I'm not going to brainfuck myself on how to improve this particular issue, that's the dev's job in case they agree on that.
@mrioes I use a mace wielder, Ragnar's Meteor does standard 100% damage in the first three tiles, and barely anything on the next three. If it did double damage I'd see the number 105 float up over the monsters head. Well, that, or numbers close to it. - enemies always choose the hero as target in case they stand on an adjacent tile This would make mages suicidial. I really don't see the need. It's actually a very good thing you can trick enemies by summoning a minion. Otherwise, well, you'd die all the time, because if you run out of mana....well, you can be the most powerful mage ever...but you're dead. - rework casting animation. It reminds me of a subtle hitler gesture. I agree, it's a bit awkward. Sig Heil is not something I want to see in this game. - equipping an item takes a turn Any real reason for this, other than sadism? - add global stash in each zoo OR - add 1 storage cube for each crafting tree I don't know what a global stash is, but they're going to add finding artifacts in the next patch. - add enemy loot This, this! a thousand times this!
>'rework casting animation. It reminds me of a subtle hitler gesture. ' Yeah and when I use maces it the animation reminds me of clubbing seals... The animation is the character reading from a book and holding his arm out at about waist level, you have to be looking for Nazi symbolism to even think that it bears enough resemblance.
@mrioes When potent alcohols are used in the Porta-still it actually creates a bottle of 100% alcohol for potion mixing purposes, not an empty one.
@IamExMachina No, it really does. And I don't look for Nazi Symbolism anywhere, thank you very much. Not everyone does, either. Every time I do certain skills, specifically knightly leap, without leaping, vampire's coprse eating, Burglary's lockpick, etc, it looks like he's doing Sig Heil, albeit, not the best one. All things considered, it's really, really awkward. And it's quite obvious too. I have never seen a mage in any game reach his hand out like that ever. And it's totally not at waist level either. My char 100% shoots his hand out far above his waist. Also, your sarcasm about clubbing seals doesn't win you any points. He may cast from a book, but then he does the Sig Heil.
@DavidB1111 Looking at the Player's arm whilst casting it is at shoulder height, not waist height as I incorrectly said. He is casting from a book, however he isn't seig heil-ing as his hand that he sticks out is in a grasping/casting position (see side casting screenshot) rather than having his hand flat in a nazi salute. Casting from front Screenshot: http://i56.tinypic.com/y2nwj.jpg Casting from side screenshot: http://i56.tinypic.com/dftlc.jpg
^ Hmm my screenshots are from youtube, so maybe the beta. Oops, my bad. Oh well even in yours you can clearly see the hand 'casting' isn't held out flat.
It's fake, but np, my paint skillz have proven amazing in the past. Doesn't change that I "see" that pose all the time. Maybe you don't, but I do. And DavidB1111 apparently too.
Ahhh. Well I always see it is a traditional 'casting' hand, like with the fingers grasping round magical energy of what not, basically a 2d version of this: http://firsthour.net/screenshots/bioshock/bioshock-big-daddy-electro-bolt-plasmid.jpg (Without the lightning of course )
....really? You see the Nazi thing in.... oh good grief. I agree with Ian in that you pretty much have to be looking for it to see it. I've seen the animation a thousand times now. It does not look like that to me. I'll see it many more times after this topic.... and it still wont look like that to me. It looks like he's throwing an energy ball or something. As Ian ALSO pointed out with the screenshot, yes, other characters in other games do the same pose or similar; arm held out, magic flying from hand. That bioshock one is a good example indeed; what do you think that pose looks like from a third person perspective? Heck, in the "firing to the side" animation, he's not even holding his hand out IN FRONT OF HIM. He's actually holding it to the side; note, the rest of his body is facing the camera. His arm is pointing to the side, and his head is turned slightly. The BOOK is held in front of him. I mean, really. By this overall logic, any character putting their arm out in front of them for any reason in any game must be a Nazi reference. Now I have a headache, thank you. I'm going to bed.
I didn't originally have a problem, but now that it's been brought to attention, the pic http://i56.tinypic.com/dftlc.jpg shown by @IanExMachinaIanExMachina clearly shows this is a prophet of the false idol. His demon lies and spreading the untruths of a faith that offers no salvation shouldn't be allowed to continue. I demand justice. All hail the mighty Lutefisk. ps I would also like some baby seals added to the game. That would be sweet.
Any opinion on the self made traps? edit: some more stuff ... - remember minimap size and general interface coordinates - fix enemies spawning trapped: eely -> http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/9445/eelybug.png moustache can't move to right tile -> http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/7298/moustachebug.png - alt tab most of the time doesn't stop music - more wizardish items - running over teleporters doesn't pick up the stuff on it! maybe intented, but unlogic like most of the game ^^ - align autofill button in porta-still window so it doesn't overlap with distill button - after loading, the char sometimes instantly moves ~5 tiles - scrollable display resolution in launcher - unliving wall through doors totally imba but fun - different sound for tauthime swarm - debuffs (at least tauthime swarm) are dispelled if you save/load edit2: HUGE BUG! Unliving walls sometimes don't dissappear: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LTFDZDAA I can't say how to reproduce it though, but maybe dev's can find the necessary info in the savefiles. Gonna suck if your game is stuck because of that.
Is this going to be where we place any other bugs of note? Then how about Translation item corruption. (Not what you think) I noticed this primarily no staves and crossbows, not seen it manifest elsewhere. Basically, if you keep translating it, eventually all bonus stats are converted to damage boosts and not stat boosts. http://steamcommunity.com/id/ogresamanosuke2/screenshot/595819536919090340 That started as a Sneaky Assassin Bow with only 4 piercing. It had 13 damage stats when I screenshot that. I eventually got every positive buff off it and had every damage type on it, in a solid row of icons so you couldn't even see the numbers. I stupidly hit the wrong button in steam and deleted it. As for general feedback, melee is grossly underpowered, and Melee Power needs to be a more useful stat. Instead of giving it raw bonus damage to weapons, make it what it should be, the coeffecient for skills like magic power is. With no noticeable scaling, melee classes are at a horrendous disadvantage compared to casters, let alone Promethean's. Speaking of which, Fireball has not only the highest damage coeffecient (except for Thor's, which is half blasting, thus broken with edits), but the after burn effect lasts way longer than it should. Most times I just toss one fireball, knock something to half health, then run around as they burn to death. Thor's is mostly junk in comparison, as it's aoe in severely inferior, paralyze is very uncommon, and only the impact target takes signifigant damage.(Assuming you have a fixed Blasting) Kinda gimpy since it's more point investment.
@Misery Please try not to inflict Misery on everyone here by insulting them. Yes, it does look a bit like the Nazi Salute. Sure it's not as blatantly done as a Nazi Salute, but it could potentially look like that. Sorry, but it does look a lot more like it then just casting spells. I recognized it long before this topic was created. Stop insulting people over what they see. It's bad. By your logic, only your way is correct, and well, that ways lies police states. Or for maximum irony, Fascism. Get Knightly leap, and cast it on the space next to you over and over. You'll see it.
@DavidB1111 internet rule #whatever: ignore Trolls. They stop posting asap if you don't answer them. as I am already posting, may as well do an update: - minimap screensize 4 too large, screensize 3 too small - option to disable attack animation (of your minions) !
@mrioes Good point. I tend to be a little too confrontation happy. @OgreSamanosuke the weapons getting uber damage bug is well known. Only happens on weapons though. So, until it's fixed, best not to use that skill on weapons that much.
@DavidB1111 Not everyone is going to see it the way you do, though, that's the thing. I'm not insulting anyone; I was honestly VERY surprised that anyone could see such a thing in that particular bit of artwork. Just even bringing this up is going to potentially be offensive to some people that might not whatsoever have otherwise seen that image in such a way. I mean, wether or not you THINK the image bears a bit of a resemblance, does not whatsoever in any way, shape, or form, mean that it is MEANT to. If I were the artist, I'd be very insulted, in all honesty. You could very easily have merely kept it to yourself and ignored it, knowing full well that it ISNT MEANT THAT WAY. Also: why do you instantly assume that I'm trying to insult you? I'm not the type to do that. I dont fling insults, and I loathe internet flaming. I have no problems with you. Why do you assume otherwise? I wasnt even angry or anything up there. Oh, I know I'm a bit hotheaded... but that's just my nature. If that sometimes makes my words seem snappy, I apologize. But other than that, I'm really just not the insulting/flaming type. You yourself say you tend to be "confrontation happy". No offense meant, but maybe tone that down a little? Insults are obviously bad, but it can be bad in a different way to percieve insults where none are intended. This can lead to confrontations with people you might otherwise get along with, or stuff like that.... never a good thing. Just something to think about, is all. I wont continue on the topic of the stupid image thing though, because in all honesty I dont really care: I was just really surprised, that's all. @mrioes *sigh* Not everyone that expresses opinions or surprise or disagrees with someone is a troll. As I said to David, I apologize if I seemed snappy. That being said, do not just instantly call people trolls. It is rude. It's a term that's thrown around WAY too much these days.... and yes, I know there are alot of ACTUAL trolls out there, but still. Sometimes, people seem to throw that word around WAY too quickly.
@mrioes Your heart is in the right place, but really, you should go to http://www.gaslampgames.com/blog/ and read up on the stuff they've already fixed, and the stuff that they are planning to fix in the next patch - because about 80% of the stuff you've listed in this thread has already been fixed in the latest Dev build OR it's in the list of "stuff to fix for 1.0.4". FYI, the list of bugs they plan on fixing was over 100 items long to begin with, and Gaslamp tweeted last weekend that they were down to about 50.
I don't know why the niveau dropped so much in the past years when writing on the internet. Really turnes me off. Nonlinguists everywhere. Marak, did you read the first sentence I wrote here? Read again. And 80% is a ridiculous exaggeration. I just checked their last entry about upcoming fixes and there isn't a singel doublicate to what I wrote. That is 0%. Not 80%. Stay away from every thread where my nick is OP and take Misery with you. Sick of timewasters like you. Your intention when writing trash like this is beyond me. /rage edit: and because I am in a bad mood, here is the tl;dr version: http://s3.amazonaws.com/kym-assets/photos/images/original/000/093/983/NOT-SURE-IF-TROLL-OR-JUST-VERY-STUPID.jpg?1295395409
