Dumb question about Gog's tactical pyre

Does Gog's tactical pyre continue to damage a mob if they just stand on the spell's location? I was unable to find this info in the wiki or on the web anywhere. If it does, what I want to do is use lock-up to root an enemy and then burn the crap out of them with Gog's tactical pyre cooking their butt over many turns. If it doesn't, well it should. Thanks!

So far as I know, all cloud type effects(those that you can pass through) only affect you and your enemies on movement. I don't know for sure if Gog is the same, but I am almost certain that it is. I personally think this is a bug, though, so it may be changed at some point.

I can confirm it damages on cast, and then only when it is moved into.

Its still worth getting for the last skill in the Prome tree though. Large Fire DoT AoE. Can burn a whole zoo with out moving by spam casting it when you have blood mage.

Shoot, I was hoping to lock-up boss type mobs and burn them up over time. I guess I'll start moving down the Math skill line for it's dots. Should have a similar effect, but If Gog's cooked over time I could have it next level. I'll pick up Gog's if I have points left over later.

Also, what experience level can one expect to achieve in the later dungeon floors?

I've gotten to my mid-twenties, but I was using It Belongs in a Museum and Burglary for lots of extra XP; I also clear the first 9 floors in their entirety no matter what.

Those without Burglary, Archaeology, and an obsessive completionist streak are probably going to top out closer to 21 or 22, I would guess.

Generally, you be about level 25 while on the last floor.

Edit: Heh well, I like disarming and lock picking, so that's my experience. Marak's answer is probably more common.

I finished at level 21 with Archaeology and Burglary. I also pretty much skipped floor nine, and some of eight, as I had maxed my skills. That was picking locks, grabbing every trap, and sending all artifacts to the museum.

Also, Lock-up doesn't seem to work on Dredmor, it didn't for me, at least. To be fair, I only tried it once, then I jumped and crept out of melee range while lobbing Clockwork bolts at him. Still a good idea for named mobs, though.

So you pretty much get all the skills from your build near the end. Good to know.

Since I got Curse of the golden ratio I'm not too worried about getting Gog's anymore. Heck I don't have room for all my skills on my bar!

/Just got to dungeon lvl 5 for the first time on GR/PD run... crosses fingers...

//Also, don't put a lutefisk box in a lutefisk box...

It depends. Obviously, a full caster with several spells schools wont be able to learn everything. So trees only have 3-5 skills in them, mean they only require 2-4 levels to max. If you have a number of those, its easy to max out.

You can stack multiple tactical pyre's on the same tile. Really does a lot of dmg to anything that moves onto it.

Aye, that is a fun tactic for a Promethean/Golemancy character facing down a zoo. Funnel the monsters in with walls and draw them into a stack of pyres. Just be sure to replace the walls and pyres before they run out, or you are in trouble.
