According to the design documents for the new weapon skills, Norwegian Axenado is supposed to hit everything around you for your regular melee damage, but it's only hitting one monster in front of you for melee and then everything around you for a smaller, fixed amount. Is the design document outdated? Am I running into problems because I'm not using the latest beta release of the game? Or is there something else I'm missing?
No, it's a flaw in the design document. When I wrote that, I didn't actually understand how attack="1" spells actually worked. The axenado's actual effect is to deliver a normal melee attack on the creature your animation shows you attacking, and then deal the Axenado's damage packet to all of the other monsters in the template. I think.
Okay, yes, that's what it appears to be doing. (It also deals the damage packet to the monster you melee'd.)
As an astrology fan, my suggestion would be to tweak its affects on players - because it certainly used to hit players (and last forever) making it actually challenging to use.
Just installed the rebalance today. I'm having issues with a Naarwhaand I found on floor 1 crashing the game every time I try to use it; also, I don't play vegan's often, but it seems like there's a problem where my animal companions are finding ways to occupy tiles that are already occupied by other monsters--not sure if the rebalance introduced this or if it is something that happens normally with regularity (I know it used to happen occasionally before, but now it's like at least once every two rooms it seems). Was running: Vampirism Deadshot Archery Killer Vegan Battle Geologist Tinkering Berserker Rage Only buffs up at the time were Plutonic Fist and Deadshot's thing, which I couldn't figure out how to toggle off. NOTE: Started a new char with wandlore and some other random stuff; started with a Naarwhaand, tried to use it, and crashed again.
I haven't touch the Naarwhaand, so that's not my fault. Honestly, i didn't touch Vegan either, but I have been having the same issues you have. Maybe it's somehting with the current beta?
It's normal now. Sort of weird, but I think related to how monsters' turns are calculated (in a way, at the same time, that is).
Hmm, was anything done to or around Thor's Fulminaric Bolt, Small Snowstorm, or Lightning Blast (the three spells associated with Naarwhaand) that might have it out of sorts? Could have been a character added or removed on accident when editing something else. I haven't been running the beta (no digging diggles for me yet) and didn't have any crashes until I installed the rebalance today. Are anyone else's Naarwhaands crashing? Also, this might be off topic, but I went to shoot my xbow at a raven that was floating next to an anvil of Krong and accidently right clicked the anvil. Much to my surprise it enchanted my stack of arrows! Is that normal? I've never encountered that before (granted, I never tried it either).
Yeah, you can totally enchant ammo on an Anvil. It's kind of an exploit if you do it right: deliberately enchant some enormously stackable thing like Softballs, and the extra damage will actually apply while the stats (positive and negative) won't. But more importantly, any Softballs you later add to the stack will absorb the enchantment. I'll look into the Naarwhaand thing.
Got some more information to help figure out this wand issue: I just found a gelatinous wand on the second floor, used it, and it crashed, too (different character as well)--I'm wondering if it's something to do with aoe wands in general. I'm also wondering if it's a combination of me not running the beta and using the rebalance.
Ha! Same problem with Arctic wand. I'll have to try installing the beta tomorrow and reinstalling the rebalance over top of it to see if that fixes the issue. I seem to be able to cast aoe spells just fine, but aoe wands as a whole seem to be crashing me.
New change: Sparkly Glamour used to do .1* Magic Power drain and damage. It now deals .05 * HP drain and .05 * MP damage. So every time you use it, you gain 1/20ths of your HP back (per target in it's radius), and it does pretty decent damage no matter who you are.
Essence. Hey Essence. I brokeded Spoiler: it Edit note: My normal hits dealt 1 damage to it, and after, well, this, it got one-shotted.
Haha talk about a lucky hit. Your measily attack is so skilled it hits every body part... multiple times... or the golem had like 3 legs
