Clockwork chainaxes stack (at least, when the sort button is pressed), and upon splitting them up one weapon loses all of it's properties except for the slashing damage (24). Archaeology's Translation ability won't return them or assign new ones.
This is part of the known 'Items that shouldn't stack are stacking' bug. This is supposed to be fixed in 1.0.4, I believe.
