So... what happens if you try to kill him? :)

You can kill him, but nothing special happens that I could see. I killed him and stole all the stuff for the hell of it. I died fighting off a horde of Dread Collectors. I am not sure if they would have appeared if I had just killed Brax and not stolen the items.

I wonder if the Dread Collectors will be a problem on later levels, or if you're free and clear if you can beat them.

As long as you leave one Brax around to sell to, you can probably get powerful enough to beat them. They are actually pretty weak (2 hits at about 24/hit) but I was surrounded and out of food.

I combined some AoE spells with a little kiting and was able to run off. The Dread Collectors dont seem to like to quit following you though.

So, once you're in trouble, you're stuck for the rest of the game?

I killed about 50-70 of them on my unarmed vampire guy, they showed no signs of extinction.

I think their spawn is infinite....
I stood in the shop with fire traps and a shitload of mana... They never stopped coming...

Yep, they should not be limitless. You should have a chance to finish the situation. I killed like 100 of them, ran out of food and died :/

    Agreed.

I wanted to see if anyone else fought them as long as I did. I fireballed groups of them, repeatedly, for 15-20 minutes before I gave up and realized the spawn is infinite.

Has anyone gotten to a stairwell with dread collectors after them?

Dread Collectors are infinite only on the floor you had them spawned on. They do not peruse if you go down/up a floor, but the second you re-enter the floor they will swarm you.

I can confirm Omnia001's post. Only infinite on the one level, the burglary skills are very helpful in outrunning them. (I'm also a vampire with a high counterstrike so 3 of them cant bring my hp down)

    Beware of Dread Collectors !
If you steal something floor 1 (for example); even if you manage to go to floor 2, if you go to another shop with your stolen items, you will trigger the alarm even if you haven't stolen anything in this shop :)

There are ways to steal from him without him getting upset at you. And I'm not talking about burglary.

If it's tossing the item along the floor until out of sight, that didn't work when I tested it. Well, it did work up until I saved the game.. and loaded back in later. I was instantly swarmed as soon as I got in the game.

As for Omnia's specific floor-only mention, that's good to know. Thanks! I did hear something about not having any of the stolen items within sight of the other vendors, too, as Aramis said.

Couple of 'tips' about "Stealing" from the shop not using burglary. (this is something I stumbled on when testing the system)

Brax will block the doorway the second you pickup an item without paying for it. Two ways to fix this: save/reload (careful though explanation later), or drop all the items (anywhere works except ON Brax). If you drop the items infront of Brax, he'll move out of your way, stand where he blocks your way, pick up the items, he'll teleport onto you.
Either way, your free to leave the shop area now.

Now, at (X) distance away, I believe it's where the door is in relation to the shop zone (in all directions from it... somehow i can trigger it in other rooms if they're close to the shop zone). Brax will mention your stealing from his shop and aggro you. The is the case using EITHER method.

Two ways to prevent that aggro: drop all items ON the aggro location (it's only one square deep) walk past it, and pick up items on the other side. Or save/reload (not 100% certain on the requirements where it works).

    Congrats: you have FREE gear!
Now: All the bugs to deal with...

Bug #1: All brax ON the floor will block off their shops, BUT only walking out of the doorway of the SINGLE brax you stole from will aggro you. So, sell items to other Brax, they still work as normal.

Bug #2: Clicking on ANY Brax will enable the "you need to pay X for the items", If you can pay your debt, your cleared from being aggroed. Any Brax will do this for you. (will check for "other floor brax")

Bug #3: ANY Brax on OTHER floors will NOT block the shop, and auto-aggro you as you leave like you stole something. (very odd)

Bug #4: The amount you need to pay for items will depend on the status of the item! Enhancing stolen items will increase your debt. Likewise applies if you transform them into other items though crafting or luskfish. (ie: value plummets to low/zero value)

-Note- If you want to pay for certain portions of your debt, drop the items you don't want to pay for before talking to brax.

I'll probably post some updates I find other things about Brax and his Satan's shop of little goodies... seriously I want to kill Brax without having to deal with his army of infinite demons.

Going to Test: Seeing if paying off debt on other floors will remove debt collector spawn and what state other brax are in on other floors/same floor with debt collector spawn on.

EDIT: Did tests already. If you get debt collectors... they don't stop even if you pay off the debt on another floor. Paying the debt off on other floors will remove the risk of being aggro'd by any other brax. This was done with leaving the angry brax alive though. Sucks D:

I accidentally killed Brax on level 4 and after killing maybe 100 or 100-200 dread collectors they seem to have run out. Will they start spawning again?

this flow of dread collectors is a bit crazy.
