I figured I'd make a topic for the explosion of articles likely to ensue within the next week or so as everyone who's played the game at GDC goes crazy talking about it. We gave PC gamer a bit of an early look before the conf and they've posted an article about it! http://www.pcgamer.com/previews/clockwork-empires-hands-on-life-and-death-on-the-frontier/
Short post from The Escapist today. Not much new info in the post itself, but there is a fair bit of previously-unseen concept art: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/art...r.it&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=articles
I will confess to a prolonged period of apathy, but that video has reinvigorated some of my interest. It's looking really good, and reminds me a lot of The Settlers.
Not watching it. I'm not watching it! Stop tempting me for fisks sake! I'm going in blind! Aside from that post about Dodo birds. That one I had to read. I still regret accidently watching the trailer, even though I have linked it the countless people.
Here's a great write-up from the only game-journalism peeps besides PCGamer I actually visit on a regular basis. RockPaperShotgun Does Clockwork
I could not be happier with that RPS article, or the press reaction to the game. Speaking personally, it's really hard to know how people will react to something when you've had your face pressed tightly to it for years. It's a big relief to know people like it.
Glad I can be part of this community for so many years. I wish I was here from the beginning. The exuberance of the writers paint a great picture of the developers and further solidify my respect for Nich, Dave, Daniel, beloved developers, and their amazing work (along with their years of posts in the forums). Watching the video, it makes it look like setting the floor dimensions doesn't increase resource cost in thh same manner as putting in modules. Does it scale? If the map space permits can I make absolutely enormous buildings?
Costs scale, just price isn't updated in real-time (should be); Size should have reasonable min and max, though lots of leeway.
Just so you know, the flurry of press has caused me to become obsessed over this game. I look for new information daily and will continue to do so until ... well who knows really? I really love the idea of accessible complexity and a scale where you can pay a personal attention to each citizen. Also the horrors. Face it, most of us have horrors in our lives, quiet desperation being what it is. I also note that you're doing steam early access. Please do that now. I have money. kthnx
